These are the ones I bought: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01LD897YW
I'm an 8.5 and the 8 fits really well, nice and snug but not too tight. They do them in 8 to 12. Probably better ones out there but I'm happy with them :D
I believe so. I'm not sure if there's 100% cross brand compatibility (like with CK and the teflon insulating gaskets), but yes the Sherman one is a WP26. You could always trim the silicone if it doesn't quite fit in the handle :)
Ah, sorry! I tried to look if it changed on the display while...
I went for this one TIG Stubby Gas Lens Pyrex cups kit but it seems like it's only available from China now with super slow post :(. Check the Riverweld store (people doing that kit) on Amazon though, they have a few kits with UK stock. I'm not sure if I'd get Pyrex cups again, at least not for...
Mine came with 1.6, 2.4 and 3.2 mm collets, a 3.2 mm collet body (this size only), a short and a medium back cap, and if I remember correct, standard 4, 5 and 6 alumina cups. I think that was all so I didn't have what I needed to start welding with 2.4 mm tungsten.
I bought a stubby gas saver...
Thanks PSweeney, I've printed that out!
Why would you recommend not using pulse for now? I found 2 Hz and dipping every other pulse got me in a good ryhthm but maybe I should be dipping based on what I see rather than a rhythm? Is that why?
I watched Jody's YouTube vid on AC freq last night...
For those that might find this useful, I played around with the multimeter tonight on the Sealey pedal and this is how it's wired by default (I couldn't find a diagram online anywhere), luckily the first pair of pins I tried was the trigger, and second pair was the pot at max when pedal...
No worries, I'll let you know re-the hose tail. My adaptor seems to have gotten lost in the post, but Wecs customer service was great, they said wait until today and let them know if it still hadn't come, did so (and it hasn't), and now they're sending another by 1st class tomorrow. I'm sure...
I went for these:
DINSE 35/50 to 3/8 adaptor this is to 3/8" on the machine for the gas so cut that off and put:
M10x1 nut + hose tail
Mini Jubilee clip
The hose tail is 4 - 5mm but someone said earlier in the thread it's fine if you well and truly tighten the jubilee clip. My adaptor hasn't...
My 206P arrived on Thurs, can't believe how compact it is! Good thing I ordered when I did as I see it's gone back up to £560 now.
Picked up a big bottle of argon yesterday and now just waiting for some consumables and an argon hose to arrive :). If I get time tomorrow I'll rewire the Sealey...
 I'm a bit averse to chopping new toys up, but that's a good idea. I think I'll leave the packaged torch intact and chop the DINSE adaptor line barb off instead and replace it with an M10 swivel barb instead of getting a 3/8" to M10 adaptor
Thanks, this looks perfect and will arrive...
Thanks @Munkul and @DavidL . I'm hoping to find a solution that can be delivered a bit quicker as I think the machine will be here this week or next! The CK torch has a 3/8" BSP connection but the adaptor I linked is 3/8" BSP on the gas hose so it would need 3/8" to M10x1mm to connect to the...
Hi everyone! My first foray into welding...
After lots of reading and watching YouTube videos, finding this thread, thinking about this machine, being swayed to another machine... then being recommended this machine by @daedalusminos and @Ruffian and swaying back to it again, I decided to go...
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Why pay more for Parweld or another big brand, when they're made in China just the same as something like this... and as you say the Sherman is probably an exact clone (thanks for saving me the 3 hrs )! Either go cheap, or go significantly more...
Nice, thanks! Seeing all that for £442 is certainly swaying me in that direction. With so much made in China these days, it's hard to know with branded products whether you're paying extra for the brand and better build quality, or just the brand...
Thanks all for the replies!
Thanks, I'll take a gander through their offerings.
Cheers Ruffian and @daedalusminos. Has this one been renamed? I read that thread and it sounds promising but the eBay link there...
Thanks eddie!
All good points.
I sent PrimeWeld an e-mail asking what level of support I would receive in the UK when buying direct from them. People are praising them for their customer support, but even so, that wouldn't be very useful if I needed to pay $200 carriage each time to send the...
Hello everyone! I'm new to the hobby as well as the forums.
I've been doing lots of reading and watching YouTube videos and I think I have narrowed down what I want to an AC/DC TIG machine. Not the cheapest of choices for a newbie, and initially I will be welding mild steel box sections to make...
