I hope you enjoy it. I have to say my Thermal Arc has had almost no use since my micro Draper welder arrived. I am pretty sure it is plotting the demise of the little upstart. I have to say that I dont actually need the Thermal Arc to achieve the same weld standard now that I have the baby...
Sorry, I didnt realise you had changed your choice to the one from Static Arc. They were on my list to consider so I would be keen to know how you get on with the welder. It may well get the 200a it is rated for as I believe they are a decent company (though I have no personal experience of...
Good luck with that. Chances are it'll never come close to 200a. It's the lovely Chinglish exaggerations methinks. And unless you are running long welds on 25mm thick steel with 5mm rods which I have never needed to do in my life then why would you need 200a? And if you are welding that kind of...
Oh, and I should probably mention, not once did the machine cut out from me exceeding the duty cycle when doing these welds. Obviously there was some setup each time but those long runs did not upset the machine at all.
As promised, here are some weld shots with some 3.2mm 7018 rods, 3.2mm 6013 (not marked as I've forgotten where they are) and 2.5mm 6013 rods. Please note, I am NOT a professional welder. I do not generally get paid for my welds. And I have crappy hands which constantly shake. So this is not...
As promised here are some pics. For the sake of tidyness I've put a series of pics for the electrode holder and the ground clamp. The first pic shows it as it was when I got it and the subsequent pics show what I've done. Considering the comments above I decided to check the Dinse connectors and...
I was referring to the connections made to the ground clamp and electrode holder. I'll take some photos of what I mean so it's easier to see how I improved it. I've never seen the Dinse connectors heat up (as hotponyshoes has said) but then I've never held them between welds so maybe they also...
OK, here goes as a first review...
I bought a micro arc welder to help me with working in awkward spots and also one I can use away from home without being worried about my nicer machine being nicked or damaged. I decided on the Draper Storm Force 120a welder sold by Toolden. I ordered it on...
Yeah, I agree with you. It didn't affect my decision. I knew Draper sold out a long time ago. But it was still about the cheapest including leads (got it on Manomano for <£58) while also being incredibly small. The seller was Toolden which I figured would mean I have some comeback if it decided...
Thanks for the replies. From the above I garner that the generic chinese or rebranded chinese machines (Parweld, Draper etc etc) are all quite acceptable. Considering how the price has doubled for those cheapie chinese welders, the Draper 120a (which I imagine is a true 120a rather than an...
As a preface to my question, I have too many welders already (MMA, MIG, DC-TIG, AC-TIG). But my main go-to machine is a Thermal Arc 175TE which I love to bits. However, I hate taking it away to a job. It gets really homesick. Also, when I am up a ladder, while the machine is small and light and...
I am trying to ascertain if there would be any interest in a universal 3D printed TIG pedal from members of this forum. A couple of things to note: I am NOT looking to sell them or the plans and while I have a 3D printer I am not offering to print these (there are services on the net [ebay]...
(Sorry to resurrect an old post)
Is that just when the sensitivity is not adjusted? I understand low amperage arcs can confuse the ones without sensitivity adjustment but the Savage is supposed to be adjustable.
+1 for the Thermal Arc SE 175. First listing in Google search showed it for £258 inc VAT at United Welding. Perhaps cheaper elsewhere. I have welded for years with buzz box welders and fairly recently switched to this one (have also tried a Parweld inverter and they are just not in the same...
