Good advice chaps.
Just wondering what the view is here on filler in the window frame?
I've read a couple of places that there's too much pressure from the window and filler will come loose and let water in.
Doing the top left corner was right at the limit of what i can do. Ground it down...
No repair panels. But I'm fairly well practiced at making patches.
Still I'm not looking forward to this one.
I've the dash disconnected so I can move it out of the way.
Fabricating all the bits is going to be a torture though.
Hi all
apologies in advance for the lengthy explanation.
I'm working flat out on my camper. We have a deadline of the 10th and I'm way behind because every job I start turns out to be worse than it looked!
So I separated the fibreglass roof and worked my way round fixing all the rust holes...
So I've been using this mask for a few weeks and I have to say it's excellent. I can see far better than I could with the old one and the shade always works cause it's got a battery.
It also fits really well.
And the grinding mode is a revelation! Been using that plenty!
All round it's...
Hi.
I work in IT and I generally buy whatever is the cheapest!
I have to say I dont really care much what I'm using. I use a cheap Lenovo and it's fine. I use it for office, 3d modelling in blender, a bit of StarCraft 2, streaming Notts county games. And it's fine.
The thing is most laptops...
Hi
I think i've overcome the fear now. I've developed a welding tic that really helps. I tap my mask twice with the gun before I engage!
Here's a few picks of a nightmare job that turned out to be way more work than it looked at the start!
The welding looks terrible but hey at least I'm doing...
Hi Guys
I've just bought a savage a40. I was recommended a parweld lid but they didn't have them in the local shop so i went with this.
Read on here that it's a decent helmet. Possibly overkill for me using my mig on the lowest setting but you might have seen my other post about arc eye fear...
Hi
I know this is a bit old but just in case. I've a bit of experience with this exact thing.
Mine is a renault traifc hightop and it had a leak that i eventually traced to the join between the fibreglass roof and the van body. The rust was above the driver door and also a little at the back...
Thanks for the replies lads. Very much appreciate hearing other folks experience.
It's a weird one. I'm careful like and I've never had arc eye. Really don't know why it bothers me so much. I wear safety goggles and a mask for cutting and grinding. Trust those things just fine and never feel...
Hi guys
I've developed a terrible fear of arc eye.
Its become like the welding equivalent of dartitis. I keep putting jobs off cause I know I'm going to get the fear.
It's actually got so bad I've attached a line to my helmet so that I literally can't use the welder without putting it on...
Hi All
Well i've done the job. Mostly!
It was a nightmare getting the unit out. Had to take out the water tank from under the left back seat and then remove a whole lot of screws. And then i ended up removing the seat too!
So i cut away all the rust and made a good tight fitting patch for a...
Hi All
Meant to get back here sooner but been flat out working at my van every spare minute. I have got used to the welder but i think i'll replace the torch bit as it is rubbish.
It's really awkward to use with a welding glove on due to the unpredictable release of the gas. But i've kind of...
Hi
So i'm fixing up an old renault trafic camper and there's a sizeable hole in the left side towards the back of the door runner.
It's right through to the inside!
The problem is that the wood panelling on the inside of the van is quite close to where i'd be doing the welding.
So my...
Hi
So I've discovered.what the main problem was.
It turns out it's possible to press the trigger on my torch enough to start an arc but not quite enough to get the gas flowing properly, or in some instances not at all!
I'm sure someone with some experience would have noticed that sooner...
Hi
Yes I should have mentioned I have swapped the leads over and reversed the roller so it should all be set up properly.
I'll post pics of my vehicles but it may be tremendously disappointing!
I've a Skoda Octavia MK1 which I love. A Renault trafic campervan(which is the primary welding...
Hi
So i have a few very old vehicles. My mechanicing is good enough to keep them alive but they've started to rot.
So i thought i'd try to learn welding.
I did some research and ordered a Clark 105 but i was sent a Clark 106. Not sure if it was a mistake to keep it at reduced cost.
Anyway...
