Thats the thing, I spoke to Tec-Arc and they couldn't have been more helpful and they manufacture the same machines as their own for Weldequip just under the portamig brand.
Back in the middle of the summer I tried sending an email enquiry and never heard anything back then called and got hold of someone who said they would respond with a quote but I am still waiting so not sure whats happened. I was quite disappointed as had heard good things. If you can't get...
My point is that THIS machine, as far as I am aware varies the wire speed at a given set point on the dial depending on the voltage.
E.G the wire speed at point 5 on the dial is not the same for all the voltage levels it increases as voltage does.
Agree with everything you said but the way you described it previously is confusing. For example if you measure the wire speed and set it to what you want then change the voltage on that particular machine the wire speed will adjust to the new voltage. So in my opinion you need to do it the...
I am in a similar situation to you and thought about a top end second hand machine but they tend to be a lot more complicated but similar money to the like of a tech arc machine which is not only simple but is new and if it does break down comes with warranty.
Have you ever tried it on stuff thinner than 2mm? Most of the stuff I want it for is in the range you have mentioned but It would be handy if it can go down far enough to do car body work if needed too?
Spoke to Tec Arc last week and the said there is no need for smoothing capacitors on the 3 phase models.
Got a quote from the local distributer for a TS - 323 with separate wire feeder and waiting for a quote for the same from Portamig and then I will decide which way to go. Probably be solely...
Thats quite an endorsement in itself, I am i the market for a Tec-Arc / Portamig / Oxford but struggling to get anyone to reply to my questions about them.
Does the wire feed adjust with the voltage and did you set come with "smoothing" capacitors?
For Mini diggers Takeuchi are the go to machine up here used to drive a TB175 and it could shame bigger machines with its power and speed. Only thing I remember going wrong was a small plastic tube leaking and that thing did a power of work.
I have no complaint about the performance of a merlo they are almost unbeatable but when it comes to build quality they are far from the best. We have had two over the last 12 years, the first wasn't too bad which was why a new one was bought. it was easily the worst piece of machinery we have...
A friend of mine is a professional fabricator and he told me not to worry about the low end of a machine too much as you can always move the torch faster
If moving it about isn't an issue and you want value for money then get the transformer welder, they will last a lot longer than an invertor then after five years it will still be gong strong and instead of having to potentially buy a replacement invertor you will have enough money saved to buy...
Didn't acquire it today, but I have in the past acquired 2 piece of grade 5 titanium round bar, about 100mm in dia and about 450mm long each. they have a 25mm hole in each end. I have been waiting for a propose for them to present itself. Its almost comical how large they are yet how light they are.
Yeah you could be right, as it would nip the thin air in the middle, although the saw would still be stuck on the tree if the two halves of the log come together in that space
