There is this big plug looking thing on the side, reckon that will unscrew?
Thank you for the advice guys, much appreciated. Best forum I've found ever!
Love the Ingersol rebuild. Nice work - I've just stripped and rebuilt an 80 year old Kerry pillar drill.. about as far as my skills go up...
Hello everyone,
Happy New Year and all that!
I have a 60's BroomWade compressor.. been using it quite a bit over the last few months. Works great, however, just gone to drain it and found 2" deep sludge in the bottom.
The bottom drain plug is completely seized and the side plug, (think its...
I can't actually remember how the quill spline comes out, but I think looking back a photos, you have to knock it out from the spring side. I remember it being a pain, but the hardest part was getting the handle hub off.
Not sure if this photo helps..
Didn't manage to get round to taking photos, but will do soon.
Tony at Lathes.co.uk is really good, sure he has manuals too - http://www.lathes.co.uk/kerrysuper8/
Hi Ric,
I'll get some photos tomorrow for you. The horizontal spline was a pain to get out. There is a pin that holds the handle and hub on, took me ages to get it out.
The bearings are old imperial - odd though as one is 1inch inner diameter and the other is 25mm, (slightest of difference)...
Okay so, a friend has found an identical starter online - though it is the 240v version. The motor I have is rated 3.05 amps. If I were to take the coil from this starter and put it in my original starter, would that work? Does the coil have a part to play in the amps? Sorry for the naivety.
I...
Ah, it won't let me view the attachments for some reason, I don't have the permissions.
I'll be at the workshop tomorrow evening so I'll take mine out and post dimensions.
Oh my! That would be amazing, you'd do that?! I'd appreciate it I could try yours first and then see. Would be happy to send my coil to you in return. I must admit, my coil doesn't quite look the same in terms of age/style (I'll get a decent photo as you can't really see it in this one).
This...
On a side note, I don't suppose anyone here has any spare parts - specifically a MEM Co Auto Memota starter? Mine has the original 440v coil and is wired up single phase, so looking for a 240v coil = rocking horse sh*t.
Thank you. I am fairly new here, but have found everyone to be really helpful and patient.
The 24ltr compressor there is unused. We're currently using a 1960's Broom & Wade 3 phase compressor, (the main reason for our lack of space!)
She makes a racket that's for sure
Okay great. The good news is you've both been immensely helpful, thank you.
The bad news is these switches are like rocking horse sh*t.
Hopefully there is a modern solution/replacement coil that will work.
Thanks again,
Chris
Hello,
I have read about the 410v coils actually, but there was nothing written on the coil.
Having said that, the plaque in the starter casing suggests the coil is 380-440 volts. Reckon that is the problem?
It is single phase
