This is a debate that's being going on for years across many different forums, in workshops and toolrooms all over the world.
I don't think the manufacturer's got it wrong, there are many lathes out there that are 50-60 years+ are still going strong and all they've ever seen was hyd oil.
I...
A good few years ago I had an interesting conversation with a Briggs and Stratton technical rep in the state's and we ended up talking about the advantages or disadvantages of using the increasingly popular engine oil grade of synthetic 5w/30 vs standard sae30 as specified by nearly all small...
As a rule yes, sticking with iso grade hydraulic oils most construction equipment manufacturers use iso46 in ambient temps of say -10 to30c but when the same machine is used In higher temps of say 0to40c+ they will specify iso 68 and in lower temps of say -20to20c they will almost always spec...
Being in the plant and machinery trade I use transmission oils for my headstock, there designed to work with gears, bronze , brass and all those small needle bearing's Hiden in the depths of a gearbox.
The two I normally use are caterpillar 10w and 10/30 tractor transmission oil, not to be...
Just a quick update, bought the dsg this morning on the condition that it was placed back inside the workshop until I could organise collection.
Called to pay for it after lunch and found my new pride and joy had already been moved into the workshop with an apprentice cleaning and wiping it down...
I know its a genuine crime,
I'm told it's only been out a few days but I suspect it's been there longer. I wiped down the ways and rubbed gear oil I had in the van into them before I left. Even if I don't take it couldn't walk away without doing it...
I'm not sure pressbreak the thread indicator on the left needs tidying up but does show both inch and metric settings, the viewing glass of thread dial indicator on the left side of the carriage is badly tarnished and would need cleaning.
All the embossed indicator plates and nameplates need...
Yea, their said to b a fine lathe alright.
I've never used one, trained on Colchester students and triumphs then moved on to m series Harrison's during my apprenticeship.
A lathe is just a lathe I'd get the swing of it soon enough, does any one have any idea where I'd get a manual?
Hi all, I'm looking for a decent sized lathe for new workshop.
Was looking at Colchester mascot and Harrison m500s, the design and functionality of which I'm well used to from my younger years. But I'm struggling to find a good one for decent money but I've just come across a dsg 2112 that would...
Hi Tally, I presume You mean coresheild 15 which is available in .8mm and is used in single pass welds on thin galvanized and none galvanized metals.
Not having personally used this wire can't comment on how well it may or may not feed with v rollers.
However I do use a few rolls of 1.6-2.4...
Thats actually my welder, they had it a few weeks ago. I recognize it by the new inductance switch I fitted two years ago.
They diagnosed my faulty pcb,
the quote for a new board was eye watering to say the least. hence the look for a good used pcb,
I've since done a deal on a used welder, i...
Hii all, i,m looking for a pcb for a newarc r4500mp. The one behind the front panel with the current meter, switches ect connected to it.
Was wondering if someone might know where i might find a used one or a welder i could buy for spare parts.

I've demoed the oxford multimig 330 before and have used the warrior 500 but it's the gys that's intriguing me. The earlier gear got some not so good reviews but the last few years they seem to have up'd their game.
