Happy (Belatedly) new year everyone....... From what you're all saying, I'm lucky I'm not dead ! We had a house full of paraffin heaters when I was growing up ! :D
Here's what I now have......
I haven't had either of these ones long, but there's been many others before them. Oh and before...
Another tiny edit.
This paint doesn't say it needs any kind of curing cycles, and it seems to be totally happy with the heat (The heaters had about 6 or 7 hours of "Testing" use so far), but it's REALLY soft.
I just rubbed back some paint splatter blobs on the lid, and the paint's almost like...
Just a little update on the heater (In case anyone's actually still interested). I woke up feeling pretty grotty this morning, and slowly got worse, so around 12:00 I decided to give up on the day as a bad job, and went back to bed. I somehow managed to fall asleep, and didn't wake up again...
Before.......
And after......
There's still a few bits to do, but it at least LOOKS significantly better than it did, and it isn't sweating paraffin out of multiple rust bubbles anymore. I had trouble getting the wick in, and as I had started shaking with pain by that point I was a little...
Well, the tank needed a little more soldering work than I'd expected, and I still wasn't anywhere near happy with the level of my prep work I'd managed to do, but today's been the only time I've felt up to messing about with this in a week (Almost constant mid level dizziness has been dictating...
It's made by a company called "Vitcas" and it's just called "High Temperature Heat Resistant Paint".
For some reason I'm not getting email notifications whenever new replies come in on this. I've tried toggling the "Unwatch/watch" button, but still no notifications........ Anyone know what's...
OK, so it seems the Hydrate 80 is a no go then. Fair enough. As I said, I didn't know what it turned rust into, and now there's mention of "Polymers" here it seems Bilt Hamber
were on the level with me.
With regards to the chimney, TBH, I don't know how hot they get. It's a 6" steel tube around...
Yeah, But I don't want to paint it up with this pretty robustly priced high temperature paint, then have the Hydrate 80 start burning out of the seams and ruin it. The chimney doesn't actually look that bad with regards to rust, but the old cracked enamel's still all going to have to come off to...
Hi all. I haven't been around for a fair while. My health took a pretty significant nose dive, and I've spent several months feeling ill as hell, and wallowing in a hole of self pity........ So I decided a little light project might help me snap out of it, and I bought an old and abused Aladdin...
I was under the impresion that the Chinese government offered heavily subsidised shipping services to certain companies who predominantly sold their products outside of China?
Thanks for the offer, but because of the uncertainty around this whole tax thing I've just gone with a second best option that doesn't involve it crossing boarders.
It's annoying as hell because I've bought shedloads of electronics from China and several tools from the US over the years, and...
S*d it then. I've found some alternatives for sale in the UK. They're the same brand, model, speed, timings, and voltage as the memory I want to add to in my other PC, but just a different revision number. They SHOULD be happy working along with the 4gb that's already in there.......... It's...
Hi all. I've got a quick question. I've seen some old computer memory for sale on eBay in Dublin, but I'm reading all sorts of conflicting stuff on the internet about what the rules are concerning getting anything posted from there to Mainland England at the minute. I'm just wondering if anyone...
Disabling it in software is seen as in the same category as removing any other emissions related part of the car (Like pulling off catalytic converters/DPF, or the EGR valve) . Without it my Golf would be pretty much the same as a bog standard TDI rather than a low emissions Bluemotion version...
Preaching to the choir mate. I wish I'd kept my MK3 Capri Laser, or even my MK1 MX5. Neither car had much on them to go wrong, little to dull the experience of driving, and (to an extent) both could be kept in perfect running order with a toolkit only slightly more extensive than you'd find on a...
No, as I said, it works as intended. The stop/start systems turns off when the battery is getting flat, but the problem is that by the time the system disables stop/start the battery's only got enough power for a handful of restarts left in it anyway, so by the time that kicks in it's already at...
No, the stop/start system works exactly as VW intended, It's just that it's not how I want it to work.
I hardly ever do over 3 miles on any leg of a trip, so that isn't even long enough to replace the power used by the first engine start of the day. With these short trips and the car not...
