well I don't want to sound like a vulture, but if it turns into a scrapfest I might have a good home for the vertical head quill (if the head not otherwise serviceable) - the chuck in mine is simply un-moving in the MT2 taper and the damping ring on the chuck fails to move even the slightest...
hmmm, it might come good with a good dose of TLC and a lick of paint can substantially improve the appearance. The bed might be a bit more of a challenge.
Good luck with it - if I can offer any help, pictures etc let me know.
Brilliant photos - thats exactly what I needed. For info I've also received some photos on the model-engineer's forum that shows a slightly different arrangement. For now I know that the bit of bar I can see at the top of my quill shaft should be able to ease the chuck out of the taper. I...
Hi Rannaschair, I've just started the strip and rebuild of my fathers old Centec 2A. I have the MkIII vertical milling head, but I don't think its been loved. I've really appreciated the photos above, but what would be enormously helpful is if you could show the arrangement at the top of the...
Details of fabricated adjustment steady bracket.

I've got a range of accessories including the drawbar and some collets, a face place and 3 & 4 jaw chucks. Unfortunately my fathers garage had a leak in the roof and though everything is recoverable it all needs a good clean and derust. But I'm not particularly in a hurry.
I've bought a...

As you say your cabinet is different to the others I've seen, mine lacks the motor support point you've highlighted. However, the motor frame and...
Hi All,
Just joined this forum. I've my father's old Model M Mk 1 and have been slowly rejuvenating it for some time - life, travel and fishing slowed things down! Now that I'm retired I'm finally on the home stretch, but was looking for clarity on how some bits go together - ie the position...
