Hi Richiew, I checked just now, my kettle is 2000 / 3000 watts.
Scratching my head here.
I rand the neighbours just now, and said I've a couple more cuts to make tonight (building a table, need good cuts) and that after that I'll sort it, I'll buy a generator.
So I need a gennie capable of...
the bandsaw has a 2000 watt motor, its a noisey bast**** eh! Lord above there is some scream from the thing
When I moved in, I sparked up the grinder one night, and the next day i called to the neighbours (next bungalow along) and asked them did they hear it, they said 'no, thanks for...
lol its like the hypertherm, it cut fine @ 230V / 19A but the manual is saying 32 amps
I moved into a new house, its very nice, it has a big garage, but when I ran my Femi bandsaw last night the neighbours lights started flickering, hence this thread.
I phoned them this morning to check...
@GrahamGKD thanks for the input, very much appreciated
Hood looking at the specs on my pump (this is the compressor the pump came off) it looks like my CFM is half of yours at 5.65 CFM, according to an online converter
Going on the info you guys have supplied, I now know what to look for...
Cheers for the info Gaz
Hood that's interesting news. Mine was cobbled together, I bought a used tank, a good one, and then I got a specialist to call to the house and fix the pump on. The pump came from a 50 litre Lidl compressor. Its in good nick still, not a lot of hours on it.
That...
another option might be to buy a honda motor and fix it to an used 3 phase compressor, and get a smaller generator to run the plasma
I say this with no notion whats involved, if the gearing will be correct for the pump.
Ahh, yes , as I mentioned, I'm pretty clueless.
Hello to all )
I am clueless and looking for help, to size a generator and also a compressor, for use in a CNC setup.
My plasma is a Hypertherm Powermax 45 (old version), I was previously running it off a household supply that was around 230V / 19A, and it was doing fine... I guess with the...
did not notice the angle, will have a look again.
The torch I'm using is a Hypertherm T45M, according to Jim Colt I can immerse the brass cap but that's all, so maybe 10mm of water above the sheet, should remove a lot of the fumes, I hope. Will be fun finding out.
He wrote also that the earth...
small update. The gantry plates arrived, here is one sitting next to the original gantry plates. They are 10mm aluminium and they are beefy, looking forward to seeing them on. I have a distraction for the next week ahead, so cannot start just yet, will be delayed.
Also I painted the interior...
Okay so it went well! That Raptor Liner did not react with the hammarite at all, I've scored the area I need to cover with raptor, cleaned it with turps and Ill get it painted during the week in the evenings.
Want to say thanks to you guys for the assistance
I enquired about galvanising it but the shop said it would warp the table.
@ajlelectronics - cheers, yeah that's what I'm hoping too! I've had bad luck recently with paints reacting, I really hope it doesn't.
I have a water table for a CNC, that is going to live its life submerged in water. I painted it with Hammerite but this happened:
And its smells awful!
So I bought enough U-Pol Raptor Liner to coat the table. Do you guys think I can apply it on top of the Hummerite, or do I need to go back...
Hood a thousand thankyou's. I haven't the time to dwell over everything you've written (in work at the mo) - but I get the gist of it
• The rails can be levelled over the length of the beam
• I can level the sheets of steel using the water
• everything will be fine
hahaaa! wooo
I'll read...
Was talking to my dad (welder/fabricator) and he reckons any attempts to right it, could pull it in other directions. So I'm going to leave it be.
As @MattH pointed out, the THC (torch height control) will be able to compensate for the bow, so I'm going to leave it well enough alone and move...
hahahahahahahaha
Tell ye what, Tipperary is a pretty place, lots of mountains and forests. I've been living in Dublin the last 8 years, and the landscape up here is featureless. I'm moving back home now and I cant wait to eyeball some forests.
I have an IT job and we are all working from home...
Motors arrived from China, small little things.
Funny - they are more powerful than the other no-name Nema 23 I have, and yet they are the same size
I don't understand very much about inductance etc.
Painted.
Might take a break now. The gantry plates are being milled, so going to screw in the legs and fill it with water I think is next. Might get some beers and do that. Need a rest.
so i welded the spacers for the rail brackets in the middle. Turns out that was a bad idea and either end sprang out.
So I had to press them back down and add weld at either end.
And now the girder is clean and ready for paint
