Thanks for all the suggestions and advice. At the moment I'm looking at a 151 as it's within my budget and I can always upgrade later if I feel I should.
Someone did mention about getting a machine with a euro torch but these seem to be outside my current budget.
I understand what you're getting at however I picked up this machine to learn to weld and this one seemed to have a bunch of problems (old and had sat unused for years) so I decided to start over and buy a new one.
Yes the task is simple pull some wires through a rubber hose. But in practice it...
Sounds like that might have worked but having spent 2 days messing about with it and just running out of patience. Listed this as spares or repairs on a bidding site and sold it in an hour.
I bought it to learn welding and haven't been able to learn anything as I've spent all my time trying to...
Hi guys
I'm trying to learn mig welding so I bought an old second hand machine that unfortunately didn't work. After spending too much time and money trying to make it functional I've decided to just start over and buy a new machine so I can get on actually learning.
I'm a beginner and...
OK so I made all the wires into a neat bundle and attached a wire to the end and tried to pull it through but again no success. It is literally impossible even with one end held in a vice an the sheath pulled straight and tight. Just snaps the wire.
I'm going to throw the machine away unless...
Thanks for the suggestion I tried to do this by putting the all wires into a bundle and pulling them through the sheath but it's just impossible. They just don't fit. The only possible way I can see would be to buy another sheath that's larger diameter or use some kind of tape to wrap them.
Hi guys
I have an old clarke 100en and I attempted to change the liner with the clarke metal liner. Unfortunately it was impossible to feed it into the outer sheath liner would get so far and kink. It was also impossible to pull it through with wire.
I ended up pulling the outer sheath off...
Hello
I have a second hand well used clarke 100En Mig welder. The machine works but the wire is getting stuck between the roller and the gun. My question is do you need to buy specific liners for each model of machine?
I'm also planning to replace the nozzle and tip, I've found kits online...
OK thanks for the replies hopfully I didn't create enough fumes to get ill. In terms of masks what filters should one use for metal fume? Would a ABEK P3 work? that's what I use with my full face mask mostly for spray painting.
For me the is welding going to be as a hobbyist, DIY fixer/builder...
Hi
I'm new to welding I have a Mig welder and gave it my 1st try today. I used a 2mm steel sheet galvanised (unfortunately I didn't realize the dangers of this) and attempted to make a few beads in the plate as a practice.
Luckily (perhaps) my second hand welder wouldn't weld for more than a...
The video of the grinder bouncing into the man's stomach is horrific, looks like he was cutting wood and holding it at arms length.
am I safe to assume so long as its used correctly this type of thing shouldn't happen?
Thanks for all the advice the thing that concerns me with the 9020 is I'm not the biggest, strongest bloke and this thing looks a beast of a machine
think I'll keep the 9 inch and buy a 4.5 inch to use now, once I've a bit more expirence and confidence I'm sure in the future I'll have a use...
OK thanks do you think would there be any disadvantage to using a big grinder to cut small sections? Like increased Risk of kickback or disk failure over a smaller one? I'm just wondering whether to return it for a smaller unit.
So I just bought a 9 inch makita ga9020 angle grinder in Jan sales cheap because it was the outgoing model and was in clearance.
I'm a hobbyist welder looking to work with steel box section tube around 20 x 20 to max 100 x 100mm. I have a few scrap car panels that I'm using to practice body...
Hi
I'm a complete beginner to welding bought my first Mig a Clarke 100. I've plugged it in checked the wire spool is good and set up 2 bits of scrap metal rods in a vice to test the machine. The pic shows the setup. Work piece in vice with earth/return clamp attached and torch ready to go Is...
My machine is a Clarke 100 I'm not sure if it can be upgraded to gas but I will learn on it for now if I start doing lots of welding I will possibly upgrade to a more expensive gas welder.
Also I'm doing this in my garage at home does one need special insurance or a lice se to have pressurised...
What do you mean by mouth mask? Is it required to wear a respirator when welding? I already have one but it's a full face mask that probably wont fit under the welding mask
Also my welder is a no gas welder I know it won't do the cleanest welds but I guess its OK go learn on since it was...
Hi I'm wanting to learn to Mig weld I've bought a second hand Clarke turbo Mig welder. What precautions should I take to start up?
My ideas were to do the following
1. Replace earth return wire and clamp on the welder
2. Buy an auto dimming mask, gauntlets and overalls.
3. Purchase a co2 fire...
