ah got ya, hence the need for mostly argon over co2.....
well as it's a over time thing then i can get it done like that and hopefully it will last a month till i can get a chance to get one made properly :)

forgive me for sounding thick but what's the reasoning behind not being able to use c02?, i had a play tonight on some sheet and although penetration imo was WAY ott the welds were quite neat?
is it something that will appear over time or something?, trouble i have ya see is i have friday...

recently upgraded to a nice external wastegate however i need to make a vent pipe or "screamer pipe".
it will be made from stainless tube 1.75" bore and 1.2mm wall i think.
i have bought some .8mm stainless mig wire and some tips as i normally use .6mm mild wire (panel work)...
thought i would do a little update to show the progress:
will be stripping the masking etc off tomorrow afternoon and doing a little re-assemberly then sunday will get it mopped and fully assembled :D

this one when the body is sorted will be running a 1.8 solid cam K series with a ported and polished head, piper 272 race profile cams, jenvy...
ask you can probibly see in the pics i have had a change of garage haf way through the work which has slowed progress right down....
the patch on the lower section of the inner wing was done using gasless wire, decided that was way to messy for my liking so i swiched to .6mm gas wire with...
what about using a std fit one from a specific type of car???
i know rover ones are a smart design and can be had from halfolds(spit!) for a couple quid...
