Excellent review, thanks very much. Having reviewed my workload I really cant see the need for anything bigger at present. I'm going to order an axminister in the near future but also hang on to my old clarke which I'll keep set at 90 degrees. Best of both worlds. Storage shouldn't be a problem...
Thanks for that, yeah I think I've read your review. My clarke saw was very similar when new. As both the clarke and axminister have very similar sized capacity would you say that having the swivel function would justify the upgrade? My clarke still works perfectly well but it is a pain altering...
I did look at that model but just dont have the budget at the moment. Its little brother looks like a good piece of kit and I have no doubt that parts wouldn't be a problem I'm just a little concerned reading the reviews. Thanks for the reply.
Anyone had any experience with the Axminister 700103 bandsaw? Thinking about upgrading from my Clarke bandsaw but the reviews seem to suggest that some parts are a bit 'cheap'. The swivel head would be a massive boon. Are there any other makes around the same price people have had experience...
Ive managed to source the bar which unfortunately it has to be bang on 31.75mm. It's more the tapping that's the issue. No worries, thanks very much tho.
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone can help. I am after a length of 316 Solid round Stainless 580mm in length. I also need to have the bar tapped M12 to a depth of 40mm each end. Can any help or point me in the right direction? Cheers in advance.
I got most of my clamps 4, 6 and 8 inch from JTF, they are Rolson clamps. Now I'm not going to say they are the best but I haven't had a single one fail on me in ten years unlike the ones I bought from B and Q when I was desperate! Very reasonably priced too. I've a few punches from JTF, Rolson...
I used the large grey clamps you can see on the second picture. Took a lot of force but they did the job. Simply clamped the plate down, welded directly underneath and then moved the clamps up a little and so on and so forth. Not the best method but worked out well.
The plate had a slight bow in it but I ensured the frame was fabricated as close to even as possible. The pate was then centred and clamped down to the frame before fixing. I would say about a millimetre out across the diagonals dipping in the centre so happy with that.
Made from a couple of old gate posts and an RSJ that came out if my sisters house years ago and stored in the back garden. Took me a full day just to clean the rust off but definitely worth the effort.
All finished and painted. Very happy with the results. Made from scrap and off cuts with the only costs being the castors and the plate for the top. Total cost just under £160.
