my mig is a old sealey supermig 180 as i simply cannot afford a new mig and it works fine. id replace it tomorrow if i could. its a reliable old beast but huge, heavy and clunky to use. it has a big reel of 0.6 in it and i have no feed issues at all. i have NEVER birds nested it...
well yes you where using a clarke. no surprise there.
i would advise the opposite, i dont understand how people can weld bodywork with 0.8, i can never get it to weld reliably. i switched to 0.6 and my bodywork welds improved greatly and the lower settings became useful all of a sudden.
if your willing to spend the money, any decent brand name inverter mig will do what you want.
ive never subscribed the the ethos that seems prevalent on this forum which seems to be buy a cheap clark, they do the job. that advice may have been good 15 years ago but decent inverter migs blow...
they insinuated at the beginning that one of the main reasons for going the route they did was so they didnt have to.
one of the more irritating part of 7.5t life is you are limited to 56, but the speed limit is 70....
yup. plus none of the exemptions for private use would apply so restricted o-licence, tacho, drivers and operators cpc etc etc. now all that applies to the lorry as they bought it. however the modifications remove its age related exemptions (speed limiter etc) so now they have to fit a limiter...

any decent quality name brand inverter mig will do nicely. r-tech, lorch, GYS, Esab, Jasic, lincon, Parweld, tech arc, paton, even miller, oxford and stealth. pick your budget, then pick your brand.

they dont look quite the same as factory as the frosted plastic i was able to find was not as frosted as the standard part, however they look ok to me.
and they work ok too...
