That's a good idea. Maybe something like this might work: https://www.screwfix.ie/p/d-line-safe-d-fire-rated-adjustable-clips-10-15mm-silver-20-pack/760hv
Hi All,
I have a galvanised trailer where the mesh sides have come away from the frame. Grinding/wire wheeling off the galvanise from the 1 inch mesh and frame would be a pain and leave it more exposed to rust. Am I ok to tack weld the mesh back to the frame with 6013 rods?
Example picture below.
Nice job Bob.
I've not been on in a while so didn't now this thread is still active. Just a quick update on my shed. The damp issue in the floor is mainly resolved after blowing out the joints and filling with sand cement mix and then sealing under the panels with Tek7.
I did notice...
Which reminds me my brother in laws Dad had to go hospital just before christmas to get his finger re attached from an angle grinder. It's easy to get too casual with them.
Fair point Gaz. Can never be too careful with power tools. Remember drilling a concrete wall with a Hilti drill above head height one day when i hit steel and jammed. Lifted me clean off the ground and felt bones in my spine dislocate. Luckily was young and fit at the time with no lasting damage.
Cheers DAAPH. I did manage to pick up an old 43kg gas cylinder and got it opened up. That first cut after filling with water is a bit nerve wracking when you can still smell the gas. I did up a material list for the fire box, grills, chimney, legs etc and was quoted over 500 for materials :0...
I'm a relative newbie here also with no previous welding experience but they are a good helpful bunch on here. My stick welder is currently gathering dust but want to get it buzzed up again. Had a BBQ/Smoker project in mind for the winter but material costs put it on the back burner. Need to...
I'm a bit late to the thread but have seen a few DIY attachments to use angle grinders as a chop saw if you are looking for a small starter project. These have probably been discussed on the forum before. One example below:
A bit of further research:
Copper has melting point of 1083 °C and Boiling Point - 2567 °C
6013 rod has melting point range of 1538 -1093 °C and Boiling Point - 2732 °C
This might be a stupid question :scared:
Can I use an arc welder to braze a copper joint using copper wire or is there a special type rod for welding/brazing copper. Would a 6013 work?
Hi All,
Think Ive messed up the 36 grit wheel on my bench grinder. I'm trying to repair the plunger shaft for an old paraffin lamp.
Basically I have been welding onto the shaft to fill out where its pitted and not forming a tight seal with the plunger. Anyhow Ive added my welds and roughly...
Reman, that would be a proper solution. I'm going to leave it for the winter and see how it goes. If it gets bad then action will need to be taken. Once the condensation keeps out im not to bothered with a couple of damp spots on the floor.
Thanks All for replies. Ive gone with sand/cement dry mix for now and try seal around walls with Tek7 or similar. I did think about raising the floor inside with either self leveling compound or concrete screed. I went against this as the concrete screed would need to be at least 3 inches to...
I went with the 40mm insulated panels but they are a pain to cut. I put a steel cutting disk onto my circular saw but it only cut half way through the panel so had to flip over and cut on other side also. This was a pain when cutting the angle on the top of the walls to match the angle of the...
Overall happy with the end results but there are a few issues need to be fixed. For the keen eye you might have spotted the damp in the joints of the paving slabs. I only brushed sand into the joints when i put down the base so I am going to have to blow out the joints with a power washer and...
Hi All,
Apologies for delayed update. It's been a very slow process with the Covid lockdown but I am near the finish line. Please see pics below and brief comments in next post. Mistake have been made but we'll get there eventually!
