I’m a guy that’s always been interested in how something work, must be something in the grey that’s what’s us think that way, only the other day I had to change the drain pump on my washing machine (typical just after the warranty ended) I hate to throw things if it’s still usable and good, if...
Had a interesting one this week, done a IPAF course recently and they no longer give you a physical card, instead I have a app with my digital card and certificates on there instead, i guess it’s a lot more sustainable ăn got it within a few days but means all my info is on their data storage...
There’s a new lot of council houses being built by me, I pass them near enough every day and I spotted they are being installed with 3 phase too, could see the main fuse carriers with all three fuses present, they have car charging on the fronts too. It’s a good idea for the future, just a shame...
It’s all about air movement/wind…….. if it’s indoors there’s no wind pushing the drones, so they just move with the ship, if it was outdoors then they would need to have them follow a signal to allow the drones to track and say with the ship, just think your in a train doing 100mph you can still...
I’ve used the easy coat powder coat system which is mentioned a few times above and for the price and ease I can’t fault it, was so easy to use and clean too and the results where bang on for my first every attempt
Not quite today but managed to get time to sort the garage and find where to put it, I moved it again after taking the picture as I didn’t like it so close to my vice, was a complete freebie as my work got a new drill so they allowed me to take this home, it is three phase so will be putting in...
It’s quite a common thing to have more than one compressor as a commercial or industrial place, just have them join your air line/ring, as the receivers will just fill to the same pressure to equalise, some people like to have them set to the same pressure so they turn on and off at the same...
Yes the rod has to be isolated to the tank, I did it with just a block of wood and used a piece of 1” square box and drilled m8 hole and bolted a bolt through it to hold it and also tie the cable to it, not sure how I can link what I did to show you easier.
You could do just the bottom half...
I’ve had a similar thing with my receiver tank, I opted for electrolysis, stand the tank up on one end, and use a piece a steel as your rod, can’t remember if it’s the cathode or anode, 12V battery charger, tank negative and steel rod positive, fill your tank up with water and sodium carbonate...
The pump is a rothenberger pump

Now according to the tank tag is was pressure tested to 300psi back in 1960, and for my own sanity I wanted to do my own to make sure its all good and not scrap now all that rust and crap is out of it.
Blocked all the plugs and filled it up with water ready to test, I managed to borrow this...
So a long overdue update. been 5 months  but with work and young kids don't get a lot of time to work on my own stuff but I'm in no rush so bear with me.
So the tank is a big part and I wanted to do it right, the biggest problem I faced was the amount of old oil and water and rust in...
@Ross365 i don’t know about nuclear power but the sodium coolant your on about I have worked with, a uk company I used to work for uses NaK, it was 70% potassium and 30% sodium, very good for cooling and if used right very efficient, only issue is very dangerous stuff, as I’m sure you can imagine.
Small update
managed to get the pressure switch done, nothing really wrong with this just a clean up an paint and reassemble, I tried to paint the detail plate but it’s not fully flat so I took the paint back off and it’s looks alright…… next step the tank, this may take me awhile lol
Motor complete ;) I must say I really am enjoying this project and I know its not the best job in the world but you got to start somewhere right. I've ran the motor up and its sooooo quiet. For anyone who wants to know the caps are 160uf each (also if I need to remember ) Had abit of a funny...

I couldn't believe the state it was in, my dad was using it like this  good news was the oil bearings and the spring washers (for taking backlash out...
Was a nice easy build as to be honest not exactly complicated.
I'm over the moon with how this has came out, for the first restoration project its come out really well. The only pain was re wiring the the valve stem's, I decided to use some stainless 1.2mm tig wire I've got and man it was a...
