was thinking along the lines of splatter etc, if there was anything worth putting on it. And if that was a type of paint then i'd have an excuse to buy more stuff :)
Hi Finally sorted myself a decent workbench, Just need to get a big vice to go with it now, any recommendations on painting/coatings for welding/grinding on?
Or things to avoid?
Or is bare metal best?
Thanks :)
Ahh fair enough might have to try and find a mild steel one then, just seems harder to find one :)
My understanding was that welding mild steel a mask wasn't really required but welding stainless steel was dangerous not to have one? Is it best to just always wear one?
Thanks
Hi all recently picked up a little mig welder for mild steel and wanting to sort a safe workspace for a vice / grinder ect.
Thinking about a stainless steel worktop (catering one) question is would the splatter etc onto the stainless steel cause any dangerous gasses or anything I should be...

Yeah, that was exact plan word for word of I had in mind for the pit. (makes me think I might actually know what i'm doing)
And yeah sounds like I wont need anything more, I work in Cleckheaton anyway so know where it is.
Your post mentions you upgraded, out of curiosity what are you...
Hi thanks, yeah main concern is if 5mm is enough to build something (say using mild steel box section) to support half a car's weight jacked up on it. As I have no idea on what width I would need.
But yeah if it ends up being suitable sounds good, only in Castleford.
Is hobby gas a brand or...
