Material - Surgical stainless steel. Sanded it down because it looks chromish and it's got a slight gold colour.
Thickness - it's not flat, but curved. But around 3mm. Not looking for deep penetration - just want to add a small circular blob around each side for grip and not attaching another...
I've got a stainless steel tool that I want to modify by adding some small spherical tack welds. But when I weld it on using 0.6mm stainless steel wire 316, they come off pretty easily, as if I had welded onto copper.
Does the base material need preheating? or could it be a different material...
I like these but only if you can set your machine to electrode negative. I find electrode positive, the spatter are larger and harder to clean:

Well I placed the order this morning, emailed them to make sure that the pieces would be cut and then got a call about half an hour later telling me that their trucks don't go in my area and they would need to pass it onto a third party courier who would be likely to be charging over a hundred...
I only need a few cuts. Just enough to make the large size able to fit through the door and where it needs to go. I was informed of the price per cut then when I asked how I was meant to pay for it they said they wouldn't charge me this time. If that's true, great but didn't say how I would need...
They seem to be the best with regards to price per metre and i'm looking into placing an online order for delivery but i've got a few concerns.
They don't seem to do small lengths, shortest i've seen is 3m, and this is something they offer so it's more manageable but the pricing is more...
Anyone know if someone sells packs of various mixed sizes (i,e 1.6mm to 4mm), flux types (6010,6011,6013,7018), and filler material (mild steel, stainless, aluminum, etc). Mainly want to see how they run and look without having to buy them in bulk.
EDIT: I'm aware that SIP sand weldUK sells a...
Got a MIG 180 from R-Tech, haven't had time yet to try it, but I know that I won't be able to use it on it's maximum power setting on my household socket. It's currently setup with a 16A plug, which is connected to a 16A socket to 13A plug. There seems to be some range between what can be...
I've been looking at the R-tech ProArc 175 and Thermal Arc 175 over the past few days with the hope of upgrading from my current Sealey Mightmig 100. The lack of adjustability with power settings has been driving me nuts. I did initially look at the R-Tech 180, but figured it was a bit too...
If you're still looking at angle clamps, you might want to look at SIP welding angle on CPC. Just under £42 inc free delivery. Got one recently, haven't had time to test it but it seems pretty good in quality, comparable to the Bessey WSM9 which I got for 100. Stronghands do one too, but like...
Does anyone know of a place you can buy mild steel pieces that can be welding onto other things, that isn't necessarily box shaped, rectangular, a tube or rod, or a sheet, but say a handle, or a pulley holder, etc.
Thanks for the replies.
I was kinda hoping for a £200 or less option, but i've yet to come across any for that price. I think if i'm going to go over £400 for a welder, i'll probably look at something that can do all three welding styles. But it's a bit rich for me especially since my welding...
I've watched a lot of welding videos to learn proper technique when using my Sealey MightMig 100 but most of these welders are located in the US and knowing which UK brands are good is hard to identify. I've had okish results with the Sealey but i'm not happy with the lack of adjustability with...
