My understanding is that the tracks aren’t meant to be lubricated as it encourages the rollers to “skid” rather than roll (I stand to be corrected though).
Anyway, I use ACF-50 for this kind of thing, it very slippery and actually lasts pretty well considering it’s a relatively light oil. It’s...
I have a Beta rollcab (as well as quite a few hand tools); it’s pretty decent gear as you say. That trolley is from their “Easy” range though, which is kind of like what “Expert” is to Facom (i.e. budget stuff that’s nowhere near as good!). I’d be wary personally.
I have some of these in the three different sizes:

I only need to put them in the boot of the car and then unload them once at the job though; if you’re lugging stuff around on site you really want...
I've had good deals from Euro Car Parts and local factors. It depends if you want a specific brand or warranty period really; the last one I bought was a decent sized Yuasa from an online shop.
Yes that was the “Sigma” engine, a collaboration between Ford, Yamaha and Mazda. The 1.6 EcoBoost is actually a late derivative of it, but the original 1.7 version used in the Ford Puma is probably the most famous. Volvo used the 1.6 engine under Ford’s ownership as well. It’s a great family of...
Good effort - I enjoyed your previous write up too.
I have a pair of 3dr Sierra doors that someone gave me a few years ago to deal with at some point. They’re pretty rotten, but as they’re relatively rare they need saving.
I've gone around form work with an SDS set to chisel only and a homemade bit (actually a thick washer welded to the end of a cut down chisel!). It seemed to work.
Pretty bonkers really!
They’re not particularly heavy either by modern standards (around 1650 kg IIRC). That results in a power to weight ratio very close to that of my MK3 Focus RS to put in perspective.
The screw removal pliers are really good, they work better than vise grips I find, especially when you need to grip something end-on.
Yes that little Gedore contraption is great, I found it completely by chance and thought it would come in useful, which it has!
@Memmeddu do you have a set of deep offset ring spanners?
I’m trying to think of other things I use that aren’t too specialist/nice to have….
- Allen keys and/or internal hex sockets.
- Locking pliers (aka mole/vice grips).
- Strap wrench (useful!).
- Screw removal pliers (e.g. Twin Grips).
-...
Often, but not always!
I probably use 3/8” the most as well. If it’s good quality gear it will handle the majority of jobs. I have a long Unior ratchet and an extending Facom one, you can put a lot of torque though both (you need the right sockets etc. though obviously).
Agreed in regard to 1/4" drive gear.
In 3/8" drive I usually draw the line at 22mm, and in 1/2" drive I'll go to 27mm (although My Elora set goes up to 36mm). Obviously it all depends how tight and rusty everything is!
On cars I only really use 3/4" drive gear on hub nuts. I have what looks...
