Hi, I've bought some 2nd hand boot hinges for my tr7 as well they've have the gas strut attachment, my original doesn't.
However, there's a fair bit of play in the hinge point & I'd like to repair it.
I've been looking for a couple of days now but can't find anything suitable? It looks like a...
Some food for thought there, would like to keep as close to original as possible, I just thought it would be a standard fitment.
I'll remove the plate & see what's the best approach, cheers
The front wing of my tr7 bolts to the front panel, the wing has a plate welded inside the end with 4 m6 nuts attached for the fastenings.
Now 2 of them are stripped so I just ordered some m6 weldnuts. However the weldnuts are too small measuring 10mm across the flats whereas the current captive...
I've been thinking about paint mist extraction in my garage, it's a single garage and only sprayed lechler epoxy primer with an hvlp gun at present, but even that leaves a good mist in the air which I'm not that happy about letting out for my neighbours.
Before further primer and before I paint...
Lechler epoxy numbers are
Epoxy 29107
Hardner 29370 (std, they do do a fast version ie less pot life)
Thinners 00516
My experience is lechler is damn good stuff!
OK I've removed the spoiler & checked over it, the only thing it has is an Austin rover badge imprint and what looks like a part number with letters before & after DFD & PCE - I guess these aren't what material it is?
I'll try on an owners forum as well
Thanks
Thanks guys, yes the spoiler is soft and can press your fingers into it.
It's off an mg montego so mid to late 80's / early 90's, I'll remove it to see if there are any markings.
Hi, I'm prepping the bodywork of my car ready for lechler epoxy, I have a 2nd hand rubber type spoiler that I've fitted which is white and looks to be the finished colour. Can I use lechler on it ie is it flexible enough, and then what paint should I use for final colour which would be satin...
I've got a sealey df760 bench folder, whilst it's fine for short pieces, full length pieces of 0.9mm sheet steel make it flex in the middle with resultant varying bend angle.
What's the best way to stiffen the folding plate up, it's basically angle iron. I was thinking of welding a 40mm x 8mm...
Deck repair panel cut and a 5mm extension piece welded in to give the correct profile, then tacked in.
I didn't use the whole repair panel as worried about heat distortion so kept it close to the edge removing rust area and ensuring good metal, anyway plenty left if needs doing again in another...
All welds ground back, pleased with the top of the rear wing which looks stock after repair.
Boot lid hinge bracket repaired (now painted black) trial fitting this to theuunderside of rear deck/wing is a good fit, shame this can't be said of the repair panel for the rear deck itself which...
Wider angle shot of the passenger side rear wing/deck/boot area and the repair in total.
I've welded the rain channel in now, and wing repair section where it meets the rear deck.
I didn't get full weld penetration on the top of the wing for some reason so ground back and re welded, all good...
Thanks for the replies guys, I've tacked it in after cutting out and repairing the corner where it meets the rear light panel, then started on the rear deck to wing (2nd pic above).
Beleive it there are 4 layers of metal here!
In order they are brace panel, wing, rear deck, inner rear deck. The...
Thanks for the replies, the lip is in good order so looked at butt welding but went for a joggle in the end as seemed easier (I've butt welded all other repairs but this seemed tricky to do), just need to weld it in now once I've sussed out how to repair the other end where it meets the rear deck.
I'm after recommendations for the best way to repair the boot rain channel on my Tr7.
As you can see the chanel is part of the rear wing, and has rusted through the bottom and side of the chanel.
I can form a chanel but am after the best way to fit and weld it in.
My idea was to cut half way up...
Hi, as per recommendation I've sprayed the underside of my tr7 with lechler epoxy, looks great
Can I apply tiger seal to the seams within 24hrs as drying time says 48hrs until fully dry?
I assume the whole underside needs another sand to give a key for the seam sealer and next coat?
Having killed the my old 2nd hand compressor I bought a clarke raider 3hp 100l on vat free.
Reading up on here I put a couple of drops in 15mm copper pipe and plumbing fittings connected to a wall mounted regulator/filter for ease of connection.
Now yesterday was the first time I used it and I...
Thanks for the advice Dcal, you're right about not wanting to remove the bonda, it is well dry though as some of it is has been on for 7 yrs!
I'll do as you suggest and seal with Lechler, as for cellulose I was just going off what I know that won't need air fed mask, but interested what other...
