Good Idea, I've always wanted to build a press. The irony in this is I'm building a sheet bender for an AC to DC welder conversion diode housing and now need to build a press for the bender too, this is all on my list aha!!
Hi guys
Got some bend in the bottom of a metal brake I'm making. I'm really not too sure if I will can weld on this part to pull it out. I'm looking for suggestions on how I could apply weld heat to correct.
As you might see, I have grown a slight belly on the flat plane I had wanted to keep.
Aha, I always think threads should live on and rather than creating a new one regarding all the info above it's better to keep all relevant information together for other readers.
Been reading and why have you gone with using capacitors and a reactor Infront of the diodes rather than a choke (with or without a capacitor) after the diodes?

I think I'm going to go with 4 meters on each, I guess if ever I do need to go longer I could get din connectors to extend it.
A lot of useful answers there cheers guys. It's an old sureweld 140 transformer I've been giving some tlc too. Heavy but not heavy enough it can not be moved.
"As long as you can afford", might be the right answer here. But for the home hobby welder what cable length do you guys and gals feel is about right allowing good reach and movement around a garage? Length of electrode and earth please.
Regards
Just a update, i've been looking into rounded heads, snap on do a flank drive plus, gets some really good ratings, but they are expensive as heck. Just got a teng tools spanner will let you guys know how it goes!! Happy new year and sorry to have revived a old thread.
60 to 140 amp is the current welder minus a few loses in the diodes and the inductor. Which should get me in the ball park, https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/tig-calculator.htm.
I've seen a few 110v/240v tigs online and a few high frequency start diagrams online, push comes to shove a diode with a...
Hi turbo, yes all ready have smoothed out the DC side of things. The problem with the cheap eBay inverters is the duty cycle isn't great. Not that I'm going to be welding for hours on end. I all ready have a MIG and a rubbish gasless, I can't convince the misses I need another. So making do with...
Hi, just wondering if this is possible. Only reason i'm asking is my old transformer welder goes down to 80amp and i would like to practice some scratch start dc tig. All ready rectified it for DC but need to lower the amperage. Would running it off a 110/120v yellow portable transformer do the...
Ok, i really like my topmig, i really do. But i'm thinking it's a bit to big. Now i've had a look inside and i think there is a bit of space to play around with condensing the size of it. I'm having to put it in the shed which is at funny angles. My thoughts was taking a little bit of off it...
Brilliant thank you, just trying to understand a little more about my welder.
To be honest it's day and night difference between my old maypole gasless MIG.
The other reason I asked was due to the power settings someone on another thread said it's in 25amp increments

Sip topmig 150 turbo.
Looking on the schematics the only rectification I can see is in the PCB board.
Secondly I've read that first there was smaw and gtaw and gmaw came later and originally used a constant current power supply, it was until later the they realised CV was better.
So is this...
Well i'm glad i'm not the only one!! To the original picture!! I was welding some thick box section together today, the edges are quite round. I thought i would weave across from one side to another and got two perfect welds each side, but nothing in the middle!! I'm a beginner and was using...
