Hi folks. I have a generator at home as a standby for power shortage, it’s a Kipor kde 1200 ta with a 9.5kva max output, can I run the Lincoln v205 AC/DC welder on it ? I plan on building a new workshop after the new year so I will have to work off the genie for a while till I get 3 phase...
They do rip the threads in the cylinder head on some cases, have repaired quite a few not only Vw !
I much prefer the older ea288 style cr engine with the individual clamps and 2x 10mm nuts, they never come off as they’re spring loaded by the clamps.
Glad you sort it out cheaply and without...
Never hâd Any issues with snap on magnesium impact hammers, matter of fact I have 2 large ones and a smaller one for zipping smaller bolts however I didn’t take them out of the drawer since buying battery tools !
Milwaukee are great impacts shame they don’t build them with great quality in...
I would only use their heavy impact nut busters, however their quality is bad compared to the likes of snap on or facom or Chicago pneumatic ! I have about 10 broken 9Ah batteries with cracked Carcases and 2x drill/drivers: one is draining the batteries rendering them unusable and the other...
I would take it out and just fit a standard copper head instead ! They not well balanced with the leather hide insert anyway !
Also for some reason my old (10 years) Thor nr3 hammer is heavier and sturdier built than the “new” nr3 hammer I bought last year from my usual snap on dealer…
I have one and it’s good but I also have a park side generic one and that’s just as good ! The quality of the stones and the tool on the Bosch is really good though!
And the last is the 1.9 tdi Ve engined 4 door, this needs copious amounts of welding and a full respray…goes like a new car, very comfortable and packs a punch ! Large injectors, vr6 clutch, adjustable suspension (eibach springs and matching shocks)…sublime ride !
This is the 2.0 petrol mk3 Gti swapped engine, goes really well but it’s sprayed with that raptor/textured rubbish coating which is really hard to get off ! I will probably end up using this for parts but goes well !
Man you took on a project there, I personally would have scrapped the shell and start fresh with a better shape chassis !
I have 3 of these mk2 with different levels of tuning- one is a petrol 2.0 tdi and the others tdi !
I am in the process of tidying the pd swapped 2 door golf in order to...
Get a 1.8 T engine and run away from 1.8 tfsi and 2.0 tfsi if it’s petrol you’re after. If you like diesel then you have absolutely no issues with it other than the early pd 2.0 tdi which had 170 bhp Siemens injectors, they were known to fail but are replaced under warranty!
Personally I would...
I have the sealey/clarke version of this for over 20 years, its seen a lot of action in the time being lent to different mates of my father...quality bit of kit although spares are hard to come by !
As others said, it will weld and also add a thick steel plate underneath to spread the loads. I use special cast iron electrodes from oerlikon but as you might know- not every cast is good metal and might not fuse properly ! It’s salvageable !
I have just weldes thia POS, Both sides were bad, it’s a LHD and passenger side was really crumbling !! Came out ok…it’s a Luton van 4 tones. Chassis rails are in good condition just inner arches and Luther cills were rotten.
What they dont tell you is they have spare parts on board and know the usual failures and can prevent them miles ahead ! Also they have fully built engines at home that can be loaded in a friends van that goes along the route and can be swapped into most car parks/services on motorway- i have...
I tend to work on most diesels, the best so far in the vw stable is the current 2.5 CR tdi engine, i see them with 800k to 1mil km and they do it without much fuss. The sprinter biturbo is rather fragile in comparison but they do decent mileage as well if kept maintained well, however they can...
As others mentioned, best get a decent separate tig and separate mig welder and you have all processes covered ! As above, most multiprocess machines are dc only in tig mode and quite heavy, a cheap Paton or Jasic mig welder will have a better arc than most expensive machines out there...
I have an old Bosch aquatak 1200 pressure washer I bought 15-20 year ago, it’s still brand new as I never used at all ! Sent it to my father and he put it in the garage and he never used it either ! It’s got a little overspray but lovely build quality inside: chunky brass pump and quality...
I would just use a water cooler and a suitable torch…it will solve most of your problems. On my 3 phase weco sinergic mig welder I have a binzel torch with a fume extractor and that is cumbersome ! You will get used to anything sooner or later so invest in water cooling !
