Could easily be the tension i’ll have a play around. Problem is I’m young so I couldn’t afford this welder let alone another one. Does the Clarke 151 plug into a standard socket? Or would a transformer work
If you remember the last thread I got it working , built some handlebars and a couple brackets then the welder broke itself and had to get sent off for repair, it’s come back and I can’t even lay a bead
I’m working with no gas flux core wire
Pretty thick so 3-4 mm steel
Polarity is right (red...
Thank you all for the help, I’m going inside been in the shed all day :) websites like this and people like you guys are the reason noobs like me don’t give up before we get goin. Thanks a lot!! And More welding soon
Ok.
1- I’m running no gas flux, thus my polarity is black on red / red on black rather than black on black /red on red I probably need some new tips for that
2-I’m not going to be able to fit the tip as Iv melted the copper part so far it can’t thread. Probably the worst noob mistake you’ve...
In my first photos I showed my polarity and I’m running no gas flux core wire (all of this can be seen in my first photos) I’m pretty sure it’s right but obviously I have literally no idea what I’m doing so I included all of the setup I had so people could help me the best possible way
Ok I tried this and immediately the wire all went off (look at pic) and after taking off the the little tip you can see what’ happened due to this happening a fair amount of me doing trial and error. Jeez this is hard
I can’t even start a bead, there ain’t a welding chart on my machine so I’m guessing, all I’m getting is sputtering. I’m running 140 amp wolf welder on 3-4mm mild steel with flux core wire
thanks i'll pick up some steel and give it a whirl, I bought it for a chop project I'm in the middle off and there's a fair amount of fab work to be done, but I have plenty of time to actually learn how to weld before **Language**ing around with the bike. any tips where to get cheap metal and supplies...
true it likely is alloy, I'm going to pick up some steel next weekend to give a real good go at it
yes I'm using the disposable (I think) bottle that came with the welder
and I haven't looked at the tutorials bar chucke2009 on youtube but not for my specific welder and I couldn't find a chart...
