Hi hood, thanks for the photo. Your hoses are looking a bit worn, the braiding doesn’t look too good. what do you do with your hoses. Do you drag them behind the Ute.
Good morning all,
just wondering if anyone has had any experience using those super soft flexible hoses. Not much of an option here in Australia. Can anyone recommend any sellers and if they are that flexible and last. Ck worldwide are pretty hard to get hold of and are pretty much overpriced.
Thanks rrunnach, I have welded aluminium cast and was much easier. Zinc die cast is a first for me. Worse than black pudding, absolute ****e to weld, just got a weld on it, but probably not strong.
Thanks selectedgrub. Should have thought of that. Definitely cast aluminium. No magnet sticks. Rgds Sam. They suggest to preheat the cast. Will give it a go.
Good morning,
I have an old cast outdoor furniture set and trying to work out the metal type. Is this cast iron or cast alloy. When I bring no sparks. The metal also looks brittle. My guess is cast alloy.
i just need to weld the back of the chair to the base. Any suggestions would be greatly...
Fantastic information Richard. Have to put some of your ideas to practise. Could have used this info for my cast aluminium weld. Cast can be a bit tricky, doesn't puddle that easy. Keep up the good work.
I managed to find an oem replacement. I will replace my dodgy welded part.
I purchased the bike at an auction as a repairable write off. Not sure how it broke. The bike is in pristine condition. Only needs fairings on the right hand side. Needs to be passed through the pits.
Thanks everyone...
Nice ride Richard. have to be careful with those cheap chinese knock offs. fairings are ok, but quality so so.
Now we are talking, all the Ducati classics are coming out. i am also partial to the 748 and older models.
Thanks Richard. What's the bike you ride. Looks like a ninja. You must take those corners at a good speed. Anything Ducati costs a minimum of $1k up.
I put a good 80kg direct on the pegs, seems to be solid. It's not just the $$ cost ,I enjoy the welding challenge part as well.
Thanks for your reply dale. I will give it a good solid test with my full weight before thinking about riding the bike. The weld has fused well with the cast aluminium. Pretty comfortable with the weld.
Thanks chris, I will try 4043 next time. Needed a lot of cleaning action. Finished ok with 5356. Built it up with the filler and then grinder to shape back to original. Must admit cast aluminium is harder to weld.
Thanks Richard for your response. Wise words. It's the hinge peg for the rider. No pillion peg for the panigale. Would never bring a pillion on any motorcycle. Risk my life never the pillion.
Low risk, does not carry any load, just for the heel to rest. Prepared it well and cleaned with...
good evening all, I have a part on the motorcycle that I want to repair and build up. Does any one know the metal type and best welding techniques. Looks like aluminium or magnesium. Light weight part. I was going tig weld ac with er 5356 for aluminium.
Hi, with the kemppi, do you need the original kemppi tig torch for the hf to work. I have an after market tig torch and footpedal. My hf does not work. Rgds Sam
Hi Richard, slight buzzing sound when the foot pedal is pressed. Lift arc works fine. I have an after market tig torch. Maybe it needs the original kemppi tig torch to activate/ switch on the hf spark. I could make a switch and connect to the other seven pin connector to test. Rgds sam
Hi, just wondering if anyone knows how to diagnose a high frequency issue with kemppi evo minarc tig 200. It doesn't spark when the foot pedal is activated. Does it need a kemppi torch for the hf to work. Any diagrams of the location of the hf board would be appreciated. Regards sam
