Yes, you are quite right with these induction motors but air compressors are usually sold on the specs of HP and CFM, little point in fitting a 3hp motor and only running it at 2hp.
I am sure that these quoted 3hp motors would not be able to run at 3hp without burning out as it is probably not...
I would prefer it if there were screwfix and toolstations shops were they had all the stuff out on display and you could check the quality and fill up a shopping trolly and they go and pay for it. Sometimes its hard to tell what they are selling from just a picture in a catalogue and poor...
It would be interesting to read what the actual input power is of compressors as manufactures seem to exaggerate claims of the power of their products. For example I measured a Wolf 3HP 90L compressor and it was only running at 1600W max, so not 3HP at all. My small 2HP 25L compressor only runs...
Yes, silver soldering should work very well for this type of thing, you can use butane, propane or mapp gas if you have a big enough flame to heat up the parts to a glowing orange heat. The parts need to be clean and you must use a suitable flux with silver soldering. I think the biggest problem...
So does this mean no more chrome plated tools? Nickel plated or black oxide finish from now on.
What about ABC engines? I think that there is no alternative to hard chrome plating on the brass cylinders there.
Release oil? no need for that when you have a big impact gun. Plusgas is mostly just paraffin with a bit of oil. Acetone/ATF mix soon separates out so you have to give it a good shake just before use, it works because ATF is slippery and the acetone makes it very low viscosity to creep into the...
I guess going back to the original question "is it worth trying to repair or not" really depends on where you are in life. If you are a multi millionaire then would you bother spending time and getting dirty repairing an old vice or would you prefer spending time on your luxury yacht with a...
I have one of those Parkside die grinders, it's not bad for the money. The problems with it are that:
1) It has a 6mm collet so that means that 1/4" tools will not fit, you have to use 6mm tools.
2) It is variable speed and the slow speeds have almost zero torque. it is good with stones and burs...
I would say that a 14CFM air compressor would be perfectly acceptable for an air impact. I assume that your compressor has a 50 or 100 litre tank?
I use both 1/2" and 3/4" air impacts on my small compressor of 8CFM 25 litre tank with no problems at all. Remember that while air impact guns use a...
Well done for having a go and making instead of just buying a hinge. For me I would only make a hinge if i wanted something fancy or decorative because that type of simple hinge can be purchased very cheaply that as others have said is it really worth your time? I am sure that the mass produced...
With a lamp of only 4.5W, the copper wire can be very thin but as you are using it at 240VAC you need to make sure that the insulation on the wire is suitable. For lights use double insulated wire, the most commonly available wire for lighting is a .75mm conductor, twin core or three core if...
As others have said, its a suppression capacitor and its not required for correct operation of the hedge trimmer. Its only there for RF suppression, its purpose is really not required any more these days unless you are a fan of listening to Radio 4 on long wave.
It sounds like you had similar results to me with using just Dichloromethane. Looking at the data sheets for commercial paint strippers they seems to have 90% Dichloromethane and 10% Methanol as the active ingredients. Maybe it needs this Methanol content to make it work better.
When I have seen paint stripping done industrially, it seems that the items are just dunked into a tank of hot liquid and they come out completely stripped clean of paint, no scrubbing necessary. I had assumed that was DCM but maybe it is some other chemical.
The DCM was originally supplied by Redoka chemicals. I know that paint stripper containing DCM is not supplied to the public but you can still purchase DCM on its own and other products that contain DCM such as resin thinner
I do not have much experience of removing paint with a paint stripping chemical so maybe others on here know the best way to do it. I have this old vintage sewing machine, unfortunately someone had decided to repaint it with Hammerite hammer finish paint, it does not look good. I want to remove...
