Dual Action because they had a semi-circular cam in the orbiting eccentric that could lock the eccentric mechanism on center and give you basic rotary motion of the pad. The other position let it freewheel which in theory gave it a 'random' orbit. If you dug the edges of the pad in, you ended up...
Linde sold/spun-off the welder division to L-Tec, who continued for a few more years selling essentially the same welders (even kept the same green color) until they were bought by ESAB. They designed and built some stonking serious equipment, however... Just very dated by the time ESAB bought...
A couple of other considerations that are relatively cheap, but both slower and more fiddley. They used to make a nozzle for a mb-15 size mig torch that let you use the copper coated studs (pins) that were made for the bulky (and heavy) transformer stud guns. These are still available, both from...
Have you considered using a strip of perforated stainless sheet? Lets you tack-weld-braze as necessary to a top and bottom plate, or if you form a lip on the top and bottom -just capture it. 1.5-2mm should be pretty stiff and not crush readily, whilst still being formable. I used to use it for...
Before I retired, was the plant engineer in a soap factory and had to disassemble the motor/gearbox/agitator flange on a 1500 gallon steam jacketed lye mixer with 20-odd 1 in. (25mm or so) hex cap screws in a blind location and never serviced in at least 25 years... Used a 20:1 gear reduction...
Just because I haven't seen it mentioned here, I have a tool in my collection that was designed 20 or so years ago by the SUR&R company, their #BB007 that used a purpose made air chisel hammer that had an indent for the head of the bleed screw, and a set of short lengths of piano wire which got...
26 pin HD d-sub female gender used as plug... would have a mating male gender socket on the corresponding equipment. Pretty old school, as I haven't seen anything similar since the early 90s in even rare usage. Usually found on high-end CAD monitors and old UNIX workstation video connectors...
I think this was the original thread discussing the pressure sensitive resistor control on welding web
https://weldingweb.com/archive/index.php/t-79951.html.
IIRC he posted shots of the prototype control and build details on one of the follow-up threads. I was wondering about adapting a strain...
Did a little looking for a manual and saw two different series of blue cased Stahlwerk ac-dc tigs with 3 models in each series... ac-dc, no pulse, ac-dc with pulse, and ac-dc with pulse and plasma cutter.
The base models have a front panel switch that turns the foot pedal on and off, and the...
Got two... a mts250s which is just OK, and one of their 80amp plasma cutters. Not particularly inspiring support if you have problems or questions. Their interest appears to vanish after the sale, and they could learn a lot from Tokentools in Oz and R-Tech who sell essentially the same hardware...
Thanks for the heads-up on that useful bit of info. Since I hadn't seen anything specific in their manuals explicitly mentioning the extra board on the vdi, I assumed that it simply had the power connector accross the board on all the pro series power supplies since it seems like they all have...
Anybody got any experience with Walter welding equipment? Specs pretty well and has a certain 1960s "Strong like bull" industrial look to it. Hoping it is like the Paton welder Hugh picked up, and a largely unknown 'bargain' gem in the West.
Any further thoughts on the Paton? Especially interested in how it handles pulsed mig and stick electrode. If it works acceptably, it's a bargain as I'm looking at US$570 for the power supply and under US$1000 with the 4 roll feeder, plus duty and some additional bump on the shipping.
It's a Topwell. <http://m.topwellwelders.com/pid18110192/TOPWELL-IGBT-250-AMP-ac-dc-PULSE-tig-welder-Master-TIG-200AC-250AC.htm>
They've been in the US for about 3 years now, but have yet to have a distributor or real dealer that I have been able to find. Their word-of-mouth rep over here is not...
Properly T&R for Ter & Riland (Rilon). There is some connection between Riland and Jasic that may still be in effect, as their Australian distributors who also have a US outlet (Razorweld) once listed this machine as available on their US website. On inquiry, I was told that they dropped it for...
Just something additional to check, if you haven't already. Pull the diff plug and strain/filter the oil looking for chips, filings, etc. as I had a pinion bearing fail on me over the course of 17 miles in the mountains.... Went from a very light whine under power when climbing to shudder to...
They make some pieces for Fronius, and here's a picture of what looks like the same gun in Fronius red. Out of an Australian trade magazine from 2011. Pttman used to make motors for model trains and slot cars from the 1950s through the 70s, anyway. Some of the slot car racers are pretty good at...
