I worked in a Mahle engineering plant for 22 years , top quality stuff , however it wasn't filters we produced , it was bushes and bearings for every major car manufacturer.....including Formula 1 cars , i'm sure the Ferrari has a Mahle sticker on the nose-cone.
I had both a Mazda 6 , a 55 plate...
Made a wee 2 seater Garden Bench a couple of weeks ago, 50mm x 25mm rectangular box section, and decking boards at £2.50 each from B & Q.
The steel got 4 coats of Lidl's 'Deco Style metal paint' as recommended on here, and the wood got 4 coats of sage fence treatment !
Nowt fancy, but it does...

I had the Daytona 1000cc 4-cylinder, sold it 7 years ago, it was a cracking bike, a big heavy bugger though, kinda wish i still had it, quite rare now, not many of the 4 cylinders about.
I never knew that Chris , thanks,... i purchased the mask around 7 years ago, it's a Falcon brand, from Ebay i think, it wasn't expensive at the time.
So in some occasions people may adjust the brightness of their mask when going from MiG to Arc or whenever they feel the need to...
Was messing about welding in my shed yesterday with my wee Mig 150 when i ran out of wire, not a problem as i then switched on my small arc welder and used it to finish what i was doing.
What i noticed immediately was how much better i could see where i was trying to lay the weld, the arc was...
In the past i've made a few bottle lamps with a set of glass drills which i'm sure i bought from either Toolstation or Screwfix, they done the job fine. Normally Spirits bottles with a string of LED lights inside, but one i made was from an old Esso Oils glass bottle, which looked right good...
Hi, i don't have an all singing/all dancing workshop unfortunately, but i do have a rather old wooden garage with no electricity in my back garden.
Anyway, my question is regarding the risk of electric shock, how safe is it to weld in there (arc and mig) and use power tools, with an extension...
That's good info to know, as it's a 150TE which i have.
I bought it 2nd hand around 6 years ago, the guy i bought it from hardly used it,he had bought it to do one wee job, it really was like a new welder, and still is due to me only using it the past couple of weeks.
As i'm new to MIG welding...
Cheers, could've obviously done neater welds with no need to grind, but the idea of it was to get a lot of weld on, so as to leave a large grinded/sanded surface . First time i've bought steel too, could'nt believe how cheap it was from FH Brundle, i just popped into Glasgow to their warehoose...
OK, guys, go easy on me haha , baring in mind i repaired crashed buses and done chassis conversions etc and that was 25 years ago, and i've never ever done anything like this previously. i'm quite happy with the results, though it's 'basic' compared with some of the projects you guys can do...
Thanks for the welcome, i've enjoyed looking at the forum projects over the years, lots of very talented folk on here.
That stuff in the link provided looks like it'll do the trick, cheers.
Hi, just getting back into the welding after a 25 year absence, i've seen a pic of a metal wall art thingy i want to make, it's made from 6 mm round bar, cut into small pieces ,and welded together to make a Stags Head, .....i'd like to make this but when i do it i don't want to paint it, i'd...
