I also forgot to say always clean your slag off don’t try pick up a weld after a rod change until you clean the slag off if you have a good bead the slag will all come of in one if it is hard to get off check your angles it’s likely you leaning the rod to one side and creating slag traps

If you are planning on using really thin metal like car body stuff then a mig is the way to go but anything over 3mm you can use a arc welder and for your budget you have motre choices there in the 200amp range and do 3mm up to 10mm
