Ok so I’ve done some digging. I don’t have RPM on any of the details but I have m/min (metres) so that’ll work.
My saw that comes with the abrasive disk is 3000 m/min according to the manual.
The evolution is 1450 m/min so less than half.
So maybe it’s cutting too fast for the blade...
Also I’ve just checked, my saw is 2000W, the evolution saw with the same exact blade which costs £100 more is also 2000W. So both saws use the same blade and have the same watt motor so I’m thinking speed isn’t an issue. I can find three different evolution chop saws and the highest rated motor...
I’ve tried a mixture, at first I tried light and slow which cuts fine, I tend not to rush in and force it through, even if I go fast it still cuts but not as nice and doesn’t feel right.
Initially it was tripping a RCD protected B32 MCB, not the MCB just the RCD. Since I’ve changed the socket, it always trips the RCD socket and never the non-RCD protected B32 MCB.
Hope that makes sense?
I recently brought the above, costing over £150.
The abrasive blade that came with the chopsaw says it buts steel but doesn’t even touch 20mm mild steel square tube. However my 115mm angle grinder abrasive blade cuts steel without issue.
Hence I brought the Evolution multipurpose blade that...
Brought another one, RT110B instead of RT110. Got it home and welded for over an hour, exact same setup as before and it didn’t trip once so finders crosses this ones a keeping.
I’m going to scrap the old one and strip it so I might find that fault inside maybe. Thanks for all the help and advice!
Quick question, when you say cool windings are down do you mean damaged or failed?
Also to preform these earth leakage tests does it just require the top to come off or the entire thing taken apart like the photos on the link a few posts above? Thanks!
Great I’ll take a look at that, I’m currently looking at an R Tech Portable Arc Stick MMA Welder Pro 175 (240V) which has great reviews and a decent three year warranty too!
Just saw you wrote that on the link someone posted about on a different thread (:
I’ll get that checked and also try and find an electrician to earth test it correctly. Hopefully that would explain why it keeps tripping all the time.
So I’ve had an old Oxford welder for a few years and recently started using it more frequently and it’s been getting right on my nerves!
It began tripping out the RCD at home so I had it put onto its own 32A circuit on an RCD Socket, somehow after about 20 minutes of welding it still trips...
I’ve seen MMA portable arc welders on R-Tech welding website which have some good reviews and aren’t too expensive either.
Can anyone recommend something that is reliable and reasonably priced as currently I only weld as a hobby.
As everyone else said and from what I’ve found out it’s supposed to be a highly unstable gas, therefore sensitive to things such has excessive pressure or excessive temperature, also sensitive to static can cause explosions.
But as other people have said it’s never been as issue for them. And...
Thanks for the replies! Found some prices at my local BOC shop and acetylene isn’t too pricey just noticeably more expensive than propane.
As I only need it for heating and cutting I’m going to use the oxy-propane as a few of you suggested as it’ll be safer and cheaper.
The different hose...
I'm currently looking at getting the above as I’d like a oxy-acetylene torch to weld a little but mainly use to heat and cut metal.
Does anyone have experience with this brand as I can’t find many reviews on it. I believe they usually retail at over £300
Thanks!
I will do definitely and thanks for the chart, very helpful, I’ve got the 110 model so shouldn’t be too bad now I know what to expect.
Can anyone recommend a decent welding mask?
There are great reviews for masks on screwfix and toolstation but how reliable they are is questionable. Also it’s...
