An update if anyone's interested.
This is the frame after painting..
and assembled enough to work.
We will be disassembling to put a topcoat on and work out putting sides on it to allow use as a box trailer once it gets warmer.
It tows beautifully, no issues up to an indicated 80mph with the...
Hi All, been thinking of getting a Plasma cutter, decided to get an R-Tech 50A unit but I'm worried about how much mess it will make.
I have a resin bound driveway, nowhere solid concrete or 'sacrificial' to make my cuts over (gravel around artificial grass everywhere that's not driveway) so...
I've read all through the IVA document for trailers and the only mention I can find relating to the trailer's construction are all on one page, no figures advising steel specification or sizes, just a one liner 'The trailer structure and all components including their attachment must be suitable...
Gross weight will be the axle rating, Braked Avonride 1100Kg units, estimate the weight of the trailer to be around 250Kg giving a max load of around 800Kg.
2 wheels (195/55R10) rated to 1500Kg/Pair with a cast Bradley 1400Kg coupling
Bed is Flat, 2.3m x 1.5m formed from 3"x1" 16swg outer frame...
Already ahead of you, I've looked at the size of box section we were going to use and I reckon it's just too small.
So instead we'll use a square section, thicker wall and larger dimensions overall.
60x60x3mm should be OK for the expected weight.
Yes I thought about that after I'd posted the picture.
That would add some strength I suppose, but doing it 1,2,3 would give three point of contact with the plate?
Doing a trailer suspension mount, I have a 5"x10" plate to weld to two box sections.
I'm using two bits side by side to widen the area that the plate has to act on (to lessen the twisting motion when the brakes are applied), the first will be across the axle width of the trailer, the second bit...
Sorry to drag up an old thread but just wanted to add that I used Harpic Max 10 this last weekend to remove the mill scale off some ground anchors I'd made before painting them.
It has 9% hydrochloric acid in a gel format that I worked in with a scotchbrite pad to take the scale off pretty...
Tried everything, it would darken as soon as I touched the pedal (before an arc had even struck) and then lighten up at random times for random lengths.
Even my cheap Nielsen lid was better than the Parweld.
Changed to an ESAB and I've had no other issues.
Interesting, I was at the Kit Car show at Stoneleigh this weekend and Parweld had a stand there.
I complained about one of their helmets that keeps lightening up on me mid weld and looked at their Pro torch range, I'm looking at getting one with a control to emulate the foot pedal, the...
I use a Machine mart grit blaster modified a bit for soda blasting.
Sleeve the pickup tube down to about 4mm with some plastic tubing stuffed inside the metal one (if you don't do this the whole hopper full of soda will empty in no time and turn the surrounding area into a snow scene.)

I bought a PCL Dropout water filter last week from Diaphragm Pumps in Stoke on Trent.
A great price (£133 delivered, way cheaper than anywhere else I've seen them for sale) and claims to remove 99.9999% water and 99% of particles down to 1 micron.

I bought one in 2013, it has a yellow tank rather than the red they now have.
I have it hidden in the dead space under the stairs and pipe the air into the garage via the blue airline system from toolstation (15mm)
The only issues I've had are a bit of water in the lines (hopefully sorted now...
