Haha we’ve all been there before. I’ve made up a template this morning and am going to have a go on some scrap to see how it turns out. Literally first cut I did cut it short
See if you can guess where it was
I’d make a template and probably use black mastic to fill the gap. I reckon a test piece is in order
Haha yeah, I’ve got a cheap katsu trim router which would be able to do it, but I’m by no means experienced with it…
Hey guys, just building up a kitchen unit for a van and just done the cut out for the induction hob. Appreciate this is more carpentry that metalwork but I’ve found this is usually a good pace to ask for reliable advice!
It would be nice to route this out so it’s flush with the worktop, but I’m...
does this help?
Yes theres a lot more options in aluminium but im just concerned of failure over time as its a fair bit of weight that will be on the brackets and a lot of vibrations etc. Maybe I shouldnt be concerned though?
potentially not, and if its going to be a faff then angle is the fall back plan. Angle brackets would need to be bolted on the underside of the rack to avoid the awning being to high, toward s the middle of the rack there isnt much clearance underneath due to the roof profile but still might be...
Morning chaps!
I've got a van with a roof rack ive made from 4040 aluminium extrusion, and just got a brand new second hand awning for it. Mounting to the roof rack is going to require custom brackets, so just looking at whats the easiest route is going to be.
Theres a company which produces...
Well..
Spent ages finding the correct sized black anodized aluminium angle to finish off the side step and rear step on my campervan.
Started cutting all the pieces yesterday and it dawned on me its a black painted finish. I specifically wanted an anodized finish for the better scratched...
I’ve grabbed one of these today from Toolstation:

It’s all metal which makes me feel like it might be ok. Who knows
That’s a very good point! I think my arbour has a hex shank anyway so will probably be fine in this case.
However I have some smaller hole saws with fixed shanks that are usually the slippery customers
Ok cool, I’ve got to drill a 127mm hole through a van floor next week and it’ll be a nightmare with the hole saw slipping. Guess I’ll grab a new chuck then
Been having an issue with drill bits slipping in my trusty Ryobi combi drill recently.
I’m presuming the chuck has worn, gave it a good clean out and even tried roughing it up a bit with sandpaper internally to improve grip but hasn’t made a difference.
Before I go out and buy a new chuck is...
