Saw this and thought of this thread. Might be useful for someone? Might even get one myself at that price if it's any good.

This!
Winds me up so much that none of them use them. I've never taken facial damage from a slitting disc exploding but had shards go everywhere when you get that inevitable nip.
Home and work, both have guards on. I also use a full face because it's more comfortable with glasses.
Wow... I've been wondering when that would be back on (I go every month, if not just for a wander around sometimes)... but I can't see how it'll work?
Outside it's not too bad but you can be very packed in when you go in the big shed, not to mention everything being touchy feely "look at this...
Heads up.
Ferrex branded, generic "wiggle" cutter and sander. Supplied with plunge cutter, half circle saw, sanding backing pad and sandpaper, and a scraper blade.
Was £19.99, now down to £7.99.
I had to get the price checked at the till just to make sure.
Didn't even need one but, here we are...
Whereever possible (so when I have sidelights or main lights on) I flash my foglights to indicate someone may pull out or to say thank you as I feel I don't want to dazzle someone with the highbeams. This is irrelevent of the fact that for some reason I appear to be able to flash only the right...
This thread makes me angry and sad. Sangry...
The legal stuff saddens me, everyone's afraid of anything coming back at them. Those that go to scrap, did no-one think to say "That's worth money to someone".... this is what happened with a lever notcher thingy where I work, sold it to Stevie on...
Cheers for the replies everyone!
Gaz: Yeah I saw that on Tonys site (first port of call for research!), it says on there they were also sold standalone with the bed you see in the pics I posted :)
Slim_boy_fat: I will have a look into that, I've got my eye on a friends one of a similar size...
Hello all, I've seen this little Amolco for sale not too far from me, other than reading up on Lathes.co.uk and seeing a bit about their origin and such, can anyone advise if its worth it? Common problems etc?
They're asking £550 but I don't know if that's too much.
Oh and for your amusement...
Will do!
Probably write the post out tomorrow, I have a few other things to get rid of that are no use to me. I buy small assortments at auctions for the handful of things in there that I actually want and then the rest of it just sort of gets piled up in a corner or a box and then I end up like...
I have two lathe backplates (I assume) which seem pretty old, I don't want/need them (came out of a box of stuff I bought) and I want to put them up for sale with correct dimensions for someone to buy... but how do I measure the threads accurately? I've poked a pitch gauge in there but mine are...
Austins came in at £350 cheaper than Aalco for 12 lengths of 30x30 304 box for something we're making at the moment (you've seen the stuff we do Stevie) which is a huge saving and shows just how much Aalco stick on top.
I have a torch that runs on MAPP, you can set it low enough to get a great wafty flame instead of a harsh "woooosh" one, but also use a standard butane/propane mix to heat my irons, but I can't seem to get on with using one.
Wasn't an Oerlikon was it Troy? We had a demo from a company from Sheffield (which we'd used before because the rep lived near us and included old customers in his round when he went there), anyway that rep left but we still had business with them and they came and demo'd a fancypants MIG that...
