If it's an early VegaView they did have issues with some.. You'll need to contact the distributor you bought it from and get them to send a RMA form off to Optrel. They will then get a reference number for return.
Don't open it up as it will immediately void any warranty still on it.
Parweld is good....can't knock it for the money. There are a few options in and around the £150 area.. Bolle Flash has a large view lens, Speedglas 100, Jasic HD which has true colour and large lens.... if you go a few extra ££'s you've got the ESAB A50 Sentinel.
As Mr Roo said, a roll of gaffer tape will sort it.. however, it won't conform to CE approvals if you need that in the workplace.
ESAB, Optrel, Speedglas and every other maker out there have unique connections so it does become a pain if you find a lid and PAPR unit that you like that are...
If you get your gas from the same outlet, and the deposits are the same, they shouldn't have an issue taking in a oxy cylinder and changing for a pure argon. They are basically the same cylinder just different colours for legalisation.
Have a look at the ESAB G50 full air fed setup with the PAPR unit. Has the clear grinding visor, with a flip up auto cartridge. Also has the clips for a diopter lens. Price is very reasonable too compared to the 'higher' quality makes.
The EyeTech II was discontinued a fair few years back and replaced by either the NewTech or AristoTech. Even if the cartridge failed, it's well out of warranty hence them trying to sell you a new lid.
Loads of helmets on the market, just depends on your budget.
The AC/DC Rebel is looking like the first quarter of next year at the moment, as it still needs to get CE approvals before it can be released, and it will be certainly more than your £2k budget unfortunately.
215 and 235 are in your ballpark, so depends if you prefer a 5kg or 15kg spool...
As above, a 2.5 is the strongest you can get via Optrel, however, 3.0 diopters are on the market.
You will have to file down the edges a bit for them to fit in the E684 though, as Optrel has a unique fitment.
These new HSE regs have caused all kinds of panic in the industry. Some of our customers already have things in place, whilst others have nothing..
Air feds from our suppliers is currently ranging from exstock, to 2-4 weeks tops. Prices vary widely too, but then that all depends on what kind of...
That is very true, shame they dropped the E670 in that respect. 9-13 with auto would have been perfect. E684 is a cracking lid, just a bit overkill IMHO for just MIG & MMA.
Everyone has different views on all the Optrel headshields to be honest... some suit some people, but not others. All are bang on though, but really depends on the requirements and budget.
Vegaview is 8-12 shade, where the E684 is 5-13. You'll pay a fair few £'s more for the E684, but it's the...
Part numbers are 5000.212 for the front cover lenses and 5000.300 for the inners.
Both are in packs of 5.
The fronts stayed the same throughout the range of that shape headshield, only the inners changed to a slightly larger size when they released the E650, E670, E680, E684 and Vegaview.
ESAB have their new Rebel with AC/DC HF facility being released sometime in the first quarter of next year. As long as it gets the CE approvals, that will be the first, and currently only that I'm aware of.
As a premium partner for Tyrolit, I'd highly recommend them.... especially on price v performance. Their 1 star discs are very good entry level, although they are upgrading their discs. The 1 star will soon be using the 2 star recipe. 3 star discs are near on unbeatable again on price v...
