Thank you all for the info, makes sense to do my own testing as we will be self certifying the end product.
The tube will have flat ends and the user pressure will be specified at 100psi possibly less.
Thanks agroshield, that link was just what I was looking for.
The wealth of knowledge and...
Hello, I am trying to find the internal pressure rating of s235 circular hollow section black steel tube.
Is there a brighter spark than myself on here who either knows where to find the specs or how to calculate it from the specs for S235. (Which are for tensile strength, impact pressure, and...
Apologies for not updating my post regarding issues with my Oxford magmatic 200.
I decided since I was going to have to box the thing up and ship it back to them for the repairs that rather than risk damage and incur the costs in time and lost income I would live without the use of Spot weld...
I also have an Oxford 200-1 with a Binzel torch, bought it through same outfit, my ownership has not been so trouble free.
I too was disappointed with the instruction book and the axle, which I painted and altered so it cannot slide side to side when the welder is wheeled around.
Bought in...
Thought It would be nice to let the forum know which welder I decided on.
Have ordered an Oxford magmatic 200-1 with reverse polarity upgrade, spot weld timer and a lower 15A min power rating. May not need all that but if I need it it's there.
Thanks for all the input,
Will keep you posted on...
Yes that's true, I wasn't saying I would use it to tell me how to weld, I simply meant that rather than assume I know about how something works or what a knob or button does I like to read the manuals that way I know for sure what they do rather than assume I do and steam straight in.
Too much...
Ok kinda what I figured and yes going to buy a new one then work on getting get my skills sorted, figure starting with the best machine I can afford is the best way to go, pretty much decided on an Oxford Mig Matic 200-1, a relatively simple well built transformer machine.
And I am a big...
Ok thanks, so almost the opposite of the way I was thinking about it. I was thinking that the weld would have been hotter with 0.8 as it would have needed higher power, lots to think about, and yes practice, practice, practice.
So at the risk of sounding really ignorant, if you are new to Mig...
Excuse my ignorance but isn't 0.8 wire a bit too heavy for 0.7 steel? After watching lots of video and talking to people about mig welding thinner gauge steel one of the things I came away with was to use the lighter 0.6wire. My assumption is that by using the lighter wire I would be able to...
Thanks so much for the replies, it pretty much confirms my suspicion that the problem does not lie with the welder alone and that I will need to put in plenty of practice time to get my technique to improve, (especially before i use it on this lovely old Alvis) now as to which welder.
I'm a...
hello, new to mig welding and pretty new on this forum.
The choice of welding equipment is to be honest quite bewildering. I restore classic cars and am looking to purchase a new mig welder.
I can and do gas weld but I want to be able to use Mig when required.
I have an older Cebora 130 Turbo...
Hello snooper, any chance you would sell me that operators manual, I have that same welder and the original cebora version and would love to have the manual for it.
I agree it is a great machine highly underrated, mine must be 25years old, it still welds beautifully and outperforms the Clarke...
