I have recently bought a second hand snap on 130 turbo mig welder.It all seems to function well,and much better since changing the tip and earth clamp.Although when it is simply switched on it makes quite a pronounced humming/vibrating noise.Is this normal or should it need some attention.

If its done well it should last,but will still take a lot of effort to do thoroughly.You still have to do at least the same prep and in the end you may wish you had replaced with metal.
As per suggestions I dont have any 0.8 wire to try out so for now it will be 0.6wire. Also I am now where near a sub station and cant see why my voltage would not be normal.

Sorry,forgot to add that I am using 0.6mm wire.I have read before that co2 gives a hotter weld but I never had this problem with the SIP all those years ago.It seems to me as if this snap on machine is designed for welding thicker material.
