the right hand arrowed part is a nut, needs unscrewing as you draw the (top)leadscrew out
(bottom) feed shaft is levered from the right side of the machine (dont lose the clutch parts!!)

hi all, having picked up this elliot drill recently i finally found time to have a look at it.....
while i stress i do more 'repairs' than full on restorations that i see going on this forum i thought i'd share what i found.
having dug round and found out (on here) how to strip the machine i...
thanks, as indicated the motor now runs(need to re-install it on the lathe mind). on checking the output voltages i get 465,504,580 (L1-L2/L1-L3/L2-L3) measured at the motor while it was running. i assumed these should all be the same? or am i wrong and they're ok. the label on the converter...
thanks, it is 415 output from the converter, looking at the diagram i should connect the 3 single wires to the converter and leave the other 3 wires joined?
how do i tell/check 3 phase motor wiring?
the motor that came with my colchester student is a ''lancashire-crypto A2W'' 3 phase, and is marked up as 220v/400v. has 6 wires coming out to a terminal block 3 of which are connected together.
is there a way of telling what its wired for? or does...
thanks for all the input on this,
i've got one of the cheap amazon inverters now and have been given a sutible 3 phase motor, pleased to say that its now working (well the motor is not bolted to the m/c yet). my next job/question is to make a pendant/remote switches for it (so the inverter can...
thanks for all the replies, l'm thinking to bite the bullet and go 3 phase, is there any recommended inverters to choose from? looking on youtube suggests that vfd's whine, do they all do this? sorry for all the questions but i dont know much about 3 phase stuff (cant you tell....)

no, the motors solid mounted. looking on an auction site i can only find a 1hp resilient mount motor, but could be costly if it doesnt cure the fault...
recently i've sold my boxford lathe and 'upgraded' to a kerry ag thats been converted to single phase motor.
whilst i like the way it performs is there a way of making the motor any quieter?(its quite a loud hum coming from it,a new 1.5hp,echos through the cabinet as well) the motor runs all...
dan, mine was doing exactly the same re manually operating the relay. are you sure you got the transformer thingy the right way round? reason i ask as thats what was wrong with mine(all be-it mine had an earlier style transformer), as such when i changed it to the blue style i had to move 2 of...
could you be a little more specific? i get the gist of turning the wire feed and gas on via 12v relays but not how to control the torch power. are you piggy backing the pcb or done away with it alltogether?
possibly been asked before but thanks to a kind person on here i now have the budget to go looking at a new compressor from machine mart, now i'm asking for opinions please.
i'm favoring one of the new xev16/150 models @ £430ish, but thinking is it worth the extra £100 to get the se19/200...
