Suppose it generally comes down to what type of welding your interested in....Tig, stick or mig. Tig can pay the best after a number of years welding in my opinion, Mig can be easier to get into and pick up. Stick is middle ground in my opinion. Standard certs will get you started but the weld...
Some of the postage I've seen I ridiculous....a response I got from a seller about 3 weeks ago is that eBay set the price....I live in Ireland and was looking at a starter motor for my sv650s, 2 different sellers in the UK, same motor etc...one sleeves postage was £12.45, the others was...
Hey dude for sure. It's a stepping stone and majority of Mig jobs don't need fancy certs anything more than basic welding showing you can flat weld. The weld test shows all not a piece of paper though it's still worth welding....I suggest if your looking a for a job....head around to a few...
Like Tom said above a copper backer is a great idea for that thinner material to prevent burn through. I personally prefer 0.8mm+ wire to use and it just feels right. If you stick with the 0.8 I'd maybe try doing stitch welds and going back over the missed parts with another stitch if needed as...
In terms of the machine ya have dude ya didn't do bad as at all. Ya cleaned the material and did alright in regards to the gas too much is as bad as too little but it's probably a bit of dirt that got in the way. You would need a welder capable of about 150 amps to give th t thickness of...
Ok actually found online that it expires after 3 years....lesson learned for the day :) so looks like I need to redo it as technically out since Nov 2019
Well lads and lassies....come here a mate of mine says his cert is expired....it's for EN9606-1 mig welding and I don't believe it expires....could someone please clarify?
Our factory only uses 1.2mm wire doesn't buy anything else and we weld 4mm - 80mm with the same thickness of wire. I can adjust the wire and voltage seperatley on the welder itself. I'm currently welding mild steel(my usual) 10mm lug to 10mm bushen.
Very detailed answer and much appreciated...
Well folks. Place I work uses 1.2mm wire only. If I'm welding e.g @ 26.5 volts / 240 amps comfortably, if I then switched to using a thinner say 1mm or 0.8mm wire would I then have to crank up Or lower the settings on my machine? Guessing I would. Something I read before was 3.175mm per 125amps...
Well folks. I get the workplace to buy these in for me, just wondering which colour grade should I be using for mig welding only....I use a more basic dust mask for grinding.
Just wondering with this whole UK EXIT (filter doesn't let me use proper term) thing looming over everyone's heads ( I'm in Ireland), is anyone aware if their workplace, employment etc going to be affected in any and all ways? Place in work gets stuff galvanised in the UK, Gas comes down from...
place I work has about 30 welders, about 60-70% off then would drop a weave over a stringer as their preference. I'd be one of the few that prefer laying a stringer UNTIL I get bored then switch to a weave.
