Hi I did stick weld on a back box on my van with 1.6 welding rods and 30 amps it wasn't easy . I don't have mig But seen as you do have mig it would be better
Yes I had a sealey mightymig 150 I had awful trouble with the baseless wire esp the sealey wire. Mind you I had no trouble with the super6 wire but maybe I was lucky as I had just bought one roll and sold the welder after
I know I hate the winter and we haven't had a great summer .I usually keep mine in the hotpress . I try and keep the too welders in the house too. The damp doesn't do them any favours . I was thinking bout buying a small mig any suggestions.
Ya the o/a kit prob would be better but I can justify spending 300 on a kit that mite be just used once or twice a year. I'm making it out of old drop links. Some small piping and I cut the handle out of the sledge hammer to make the handles. Least i dont have to use that anymore
I guess that could easly happen there so quit in the work shop . I know this mite be off topic . But I'm making a carbon arc torch for it . Will the air arc carbon electrodes work
Mine has a home made tank . And its not completely sealed on top so if I nearly fill it pours out. I think I have it just rite at the min but I do notice that the top of the tank gets warm after abit is that normal
The oil seems very clean . With no water in it I still have it in a clean drum . I think I will just top it up with that . Thank you for the advice id hate to ruin the welder as its goin perfect
Hi. I got the welder last week it works great . I did change the oil. Do you know how much should be in it. When I open the top it was full to the top . I replaced it with 20L of shell gx transformer oil. Its just over half full would that be ok or do I need to fill it up
Ya the weldmate is a buzzbox . Most of it is from hanging gates to repairing farm machines. Our work shop is away from the farm yard . And you can't always bring the repairs to the shop . From time to time we might have some heavy welding to do on the farm but that's not that often .
I have been looking up the R tec stuff they do look to be a nice welder . On the other hand if I had the oil cooled lady in the shop and I had a 160amp sip weldmate arc welder for the farm that could work out too. I know the weldmate would be a far cry from a decent inverter.
Hi Bill. I had a thermal arc 175se. I will admit it was a beautiful machine to weld with . And handy around the farm . But I was looking at a Jefferson 160 amp inverter if I don't buy the oil cooled lady . Any thoughts on the Jefferson or are they all much of a mushiness unless you spend over...
What make have you . I guess I was just abit on lucky with my one . When it broke I bought an old air cooled crypton triangle 180amp welder it welds lovely but ya wouldn't move it too far like the oil cooled ones.
