I like the idea of seeing what Im doing a bit better,
But someone suggested it may not be dark enough
"The screen darkness of the welding helmet is...
Bought the gassless, sorry Hood!
But its a 3 in 1, so may be able to try stick out soon.
The welds do come out a bit tougher, and to get a good weld the metal needs to bee very clean.
still playing with techniques a bit but its similar.
Hi im in the market for a new welder. My R-Tech 180 was stolen, so prob going for something a step down from this, but the gas would be a problem for me at the moment without a car so thought maybe gasses would do in the meantime,
Im welding 3mm plate mostly, some solid bar and anodes to my...
Metal too.
I went to metal supermarket last week in west of where I am.
Cost me £85 for 3 x 7.4m lengths of 30x30mm 3mm.
Plus a length of 10mm round bar.
Seemed expensive to me but I was there and needed the metal.
Thanks they look good.
I guess I'm more north London, so any where off M25 that would be easy to get to.
But yes I was thinking more like the general engineers stores.
I'm struggling to find a good hardware store in my area of north east London. A chain or branch of hardware would be good.
For things like decent hinges, metal work parts, fabricator parts, oils, mask filters, mig wire etc
All the stuff we would need as a metal worker, can't do it with just Bnq...
Well, its all a learning curve, (at the clients expense!)
No Im happy enough with the powder coat. Looks hard. So hopefully should last them few years.
Just attaching wood now at local woodworkers - iroko.
Couple of teething problems attaching back panel, but getting there.
phoned powder coaters they said if I'm not galvanising just degrease and do it all mild steel, mesh as well.
But he said it will rust within matter of months!
Front part will be covered in iroko wood, and its up on castors.
The weld mesh has got me stumped though, wether it will last long enough as they are going to hang plants off it.
Just don't want the hassle of driving this thing around, when I'm doing it for cheap.
Hi - what would the lifespan be for mild steel project powder coated if left outside.
I've built an outdoor seating booth and unsure wether the hassle of galvanising is worth it.
Thanks a lot
Graham
Yes deleted previous post, but was wondering how to attach stainless nylon M8 nut to base of my table legs.
They are mild steel.
Trouble is mixed metal types/ and heat.
