After enquiring in the other thread, I ended buying the 600mm Vevor rolls..
It wasn't the nicest experience, but they managed to roll 2mm mild steel @ 400mm wide - so was very happy given the price. Was just a one off thing for me, and I suspect they wouldn't like to keep doing it! I had been...
Would be very interested to hear your thoughts when it arrives. I've got a one off need to roll some 2mm mild steel sheet (250mm wide, aiming for 250mm diameter), and have been wondering whether these would have any chance of managing it..
Yes I do the same, citric acid bath in a plastic sheep trough. Have often wondered about the insides of box section, so I just make sure to weld it all closed - figure any rust will stop when it runs out of oxygen?
I always try and get Bodyguard GL897 black nitrile gloves, they seem to last much better than others I've tried (probably still get through a few pairs in a day though)..
Similar to previous replies;
Farnell, RS, Mouser, Digikey for the important bits - especially if you can batch it up to hit the free postage.
Aliexpress for the jellybean parts - if in no hurry.
eBay at a pinch.
If you're getting prototype boards made in China, is worth considering their SMT...
With hindsight it's obvious, but be prepared for it to still be magnetic - just so you don't drag it all over your bench with a strong magnet in a panic! :whistle:
+1 for tempering in the oven, makes it easy to hold at whatever temperature you're aiming for..
Ouch - pricing up the Aico alarms, including wireless modules, they're knocking on £100 each from most places (tho a fair bit cheaper on eBay). And of course will now need the upstairs/downstairs landings, plus kitchen, plus lounge! Insignificant compared to your house burning down of course...
I bought a similar import 5C collet chuck last year - though opted for the plain back, so I could true it up on a separate camlock backplate. I would say it's perfectly alright for the price. Quite handy for repetitive work, especially when used with a 5C collet stop. I do have the feeling that...
Btw, there is also a mystery button on the right hand side that's not brought out to the front panel..
I didn't try it to see what it does, but someone more adventurous might? :)
Just in case anyone else runs into the same issue & searches here;
I needed to weld some ally this week (first time in ages), and the machine wouldn't switch over to AC. Nothing at all happened when the AC/DC button was pressed on the control panel. Also noticed that the 2T/4T button was only...
Fwiw, they can be surprisingly good on slopes, knobbly tyres and low CoG help, Husqvarna even have a (v pricey) 4WD model that copes with 70% inclines.. :laughing:
Our first one couldn't really deal with a mound in the middle of our garden, but the later one (with their 'rough terrain kit')...
Yup, have a couple of Husqvarna's here, we bought our first one in 2008 (a 230 ACX, which got replaced after about 8 years). Honestly, they're brilliant.
Currently have a 330X that copes with an area that's probably 3/4 acre, and a little 310 that takes care of a separate small lawn. Still have...
We've got no landline either (miles of overhead lines, so ADSL was terrible), so use a fixed wireless ISP along with (previously) a 3G modem for failover.
The modem is just turned off these days, undoubtedly down to the network and mast locations, but our experience of the mobile data...
Is not unheard of for people to develop Asthma post covid (or become susceptible to new triggers), you might just need to be prescribed an inhaler to nip it in the bud when it occurs?
Obvs it would be better to avoid the irritant in the first place if possible ;)
That's a brilliant result, well done! :thumbup:
I remember when we were buying in the 00's, was all 'offers over' and sealed bids. Lost out on sooo many, was gutting (and expensive!) at the time, but ended up with exactly what we wanted eventually. Looking back on it, I can be glad now about...
Point taken, but my view is/was that the S1 gets you on centre height in the middle of it's adjustment range, whereas S2 will be at one extreme. (Is the 40mm compound to centre height unusually small for a lathe of that swing - I dunno)?
That said, the S2 minimum height is listed with a 1" tool...
