After discussiong new cars with a work colleague (he was looking at a car with a panoramic sunroof) I discovered that pano sunroofs often are not covered by the glass section of the policy (i.e. the ~£60 excess you would pay for a new screen) but only under a general claim. So a cracked sunroof...
When I sorted the rust in my car I found a 2nd hand Portamig 185 locally, used it for a year then sold it for within a tenner of what I paid for it. they hold their money well if you look after them.
In my experience wobbly or slow cad software is often down to graphics card and graphics card driver issues. Windows 10 is fine, I've found it to be very stable, my cad workstation at work rarely gets turned off as it's part of a render farm we have which runs out of hours and it never crashes.
Nice job. You might find you have to tweak those holes in the back of the patch or bend the rear section up slightly otherwise the arch liner will never fit right and flap around at speed if you can't get those two fasteners in.
Very true. Decent diagnostics makes running an older, high end car much easier. I have INPA for my E39 5-series and as you say, you can see loads of detail in real time. With other tools you can code optional features without too much hassle. The previous owner gave me the USB lead so I just...
Sorry, by "workflow" I just meant the order in which you do things to create a feature.
10+ years ago in the software I use you would have to make 5 separate steps to make a basic feature such as a cube or cylinder (creating datums, defining references and profiles, defining parameters and...
Agree, solidworks 2005 is quite out of date now so I'd question the usefulness of it anyway. Certainly in the CAD software I use the workflows have changed massively in that time period so I would expect Solidworks has gone the same way. You can also have issues using native files in different...
Did this exact repair on my e39

Drop me a pm if you want any pointers!
I did it the "hard" way and dropped the tank, although think it was easier in the long run than working round it.
That sill closing panel...
Used to lift share with a girl that kept ferrets. The ferret smell was always on her clothes, rank. I ended up getting the train to work for a while so I had an excuse to not lift share any more without having to explain she smelt weird.
Very cool, Bristol Freighter fuselage.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing!
Got Hope discs on my hardtail and Avids on my full susser. Much prefer the Hopes- easy to bleed and have rebuilt them with new seals which was simple, theyre just like tiny car calipers. They have better feel too.
The avids are a closed system so you need two syringes to push/pull fluid through...
Has it got a proper 16v rad on it? IIRC genuine VW 16v rads are double cored and more compact, made by Denso. Aftermarket and 8v rads are often single cored and taller, although the pipes line up so they fit in a 16v engine bay.
