I`m sorry Agroshield, I thought the point of this post was to better understand RWD3M `s needs? I will of course not comment on any other topic until I have got your approval in the future to make sure YOU find it funny. I am so glad you have fully investigated the problem, or was it Pete who...
So Pete, are you saying my jaws were not bell mouthed, and it is pure luck that they now hold material better than before? So there is little to no merit in the various you tube videos showing how to true the jaws of a chuck by grinding or boring by some very well respected turners? Do you own a...
OK, I have just had to fettle my jaws on my 3 jaw chuck, I was going to grind them like most people do, then I saw a video on youtube, and thought I would give it a go, it worked a treat and would recommend anybody give it a try before grinding. You will need a ceramic tipped cutting tool, mine...

Guys, thanks for the concern, I am well aware of the parts situation regarding these lathes. As a rule, NON. I am sure I will find more wrong with it as I proceed.
I am sure your not suggesting I am not careful spencer?
Good afternoon one and all, today I started the not inconsiderable task of furbishing my once lovely lathe. Too be honest it`s a bit of a shed, but it`s my shed. A couple of pics to get started, if you look carefully you will see one of the single dog tooth gears is cracked! oh joy, that must...
I wonder if he has a tin of green touch up paint handy, he must get vexed when he chips something!
Yes, I am very jealous, though I bet there is no radio blasting out tunes very often?
