@Gragson Thanks Chris, that's some brilliant info. I'll have to do some more investigation when I get a chance on the chuck. I only had a quick look at it to free off the locking collar, but it seems to be a UNF threaded mount on mine.
My understanding of the speed changes is that it is only a single speed motor, with the pulleys being interchangeable between the spindle shaft and motor shaft, which is giving the 6 speeds?
Have you found running it on a VFD has reduced the torque considerably? I must see if the motor can be rewired to run from a single to 3 phase 230v VFD as I don't have a three phase supply sorted yet for my shed.
Do you mind if i ask what brand/spec VFD you use on your Pollard?
Unfortunately...
I thought the same, but I don't want to take away from the originality. I have belt guard and original switch, the only thing missing as far as I can tell is there should be a counterweight of sorts hanging at the rear of the column to take the weight off when adjusting the table.
I'd rather...
Hi all,
Looking for some info on the above mentioned. I have finally finished building the first section of my workshop, so myself and my father decided to resurrect the pillar drill he knew he had lurking at the back of the 40ft container in his yard.
It happened to be an Alfred Herbert high...
I was disappointed tbh to find its not offered by my service provider, but at €12 a month for unlimited call and texts, and 150gb of data I suppose its to be expected possibly. Handset isn't an issue however thankfully s its supported by ,y iphone.
That's incredibly kind of you Reb, thank you. I'll have to investigate mobile frequencies here and check if the frequency of your unit matches up with provider heres. Ill do some digging and let you know
From a very quick google, I can't find any mentions of illegality in Ireland at least, and actually came across a PDF issued by Comreg (Commission for Communications Regulation) listing authorised suppliers.. seems wifi calling is out with my network provider too unfortunately.
Ah, I think I'll need to look into wifi calling perhaps. This is one of those things I know I should have looked into long ago, but left till the last minute as usual
Just for reference, these are the type of boosters I was looking at...
Moving into my self build at the end of the month hopefully, and need to address the issue of mobile phone signal. Due to the level of insulation in the house, the minute I step inside the front door reception drops from a full 4 bars and 4G to no service at all.
I've been investigating mobile...
Totally off topic I know, but this reminds me of a story I remember being told as a child about the Ford factory in Cork when it was open.
One worker would always have a funny walk out the door on the way home, as if he was weighed down almost with something heavy - foreman always assumed he...
I could be wrong but I think in that era the Sitemaster was na engined, had the 4 in 1 and extradig on the back actor. I think the plus was turbocharged. There was a hammermaster too, this had the 4 in 1 on the front but no extra dig, but had a much heavier rear boom and dipper arm.
In later...
Along with the 3in1 welder in this week pointed out by @ronan , I notice lidl have a mitre saw.

I'm going to have about 100sqm of laminate flooring to lay in the next few months along with a...
Ah, we pay a similar price here in Ireland for the likes of castlegarden decks, and again as you say most of them of very similar. The likes of JD/Kubota/Iseki decks over here are scarcer, and often the main dealer is your only option. I dont think the likes of these decks are at all...
Have to agree with Brad here, haven't seen anywhere you can get a 4 foot bare JD deck to suit a gx355 over here for €250. The three trumpets alone are about €180 from Deere and i haven't been able to source spurious ones for this deck.
I too have repaired many of these in the past, and while I...
Thankfully the deck isn't heavily rusted or pitted as we are normally quite good to look after stuff. It does a bit of contract mowing aswell as all our own so something heavier than paint is probably required. I recall using an epoxy primer a few years back (albeit probably not a very good...
