Yeah it does look interesting the only thing I'm unsure of with mechatronics is how much electrical/electronic knowledge I would need to have before starting the course
Is there much practical work involved or is it all written work, I'm wondering whether I could do an HNC online as opposed to attending a college, which would be easier to fit around personal life if possible
What subject did you do at HNC mate?
I'm looking into what options there are at HNC that I'd be interested in and that would accept me following on from welding and fabrication.
So I completed my level 3 in welding and fabrication 5 years ago, my company is willing to pay for a college course and I've been thinking about what options are out there, if I were to do a HNC then what would you be accepted to do following on from a level 3 in welding/fabrication?
If I don't...
I had a feeling it was to do with corrosion, even though it looks fine from the outside I think your spot on thanks for the input it's much appreciated, think the best option would be to get a new section made up then
Hi all, got a bit of an issue with a stainless pipe, it had a pin hole on a stabbing which when attempted to weld small fine cracks appeared spurring around the weld and made the leak worse, we did not attempt to weld these cracks as we're pretty sure more cracks would have appeared.
Its worth...
Tried the Sentinel A50 and the Lincoln 3350, the A50 is comfortable and stays close to your head when flipped up which could be handy if your in a tight spot, the Viking I think is slightly clearer and the big viewing area is a big plus, don't think you would go far wrong with either of those...
Hi everybody,
Does anyone ever fuse a joint on thinner material without adding any filler wire?
The reason I ask is I made a cover (a small rectangular box) to go over a conveyor motor, it was made out of 1.5mm thick stainless sheet where I lined up the open corners and fused them together...
Who is the rent free supplier that you went with?
I will have to look into whether there's a supplier near me to see if that's a possibility for me and weigh up the options
Hi everyone. I have just ordered a MIG set and looking through the forum I've seen some suggestions that the 'hobby deal from BOC is decent value, I've just been looking on their website and it comes up as £66.59 for a Y size cylinder of argosheild light, is this referring to the yearly rental...
Made this Argentine Grill for a friend, I'd never seen or heard of one before, a few late evenings in the garage and I'm quite happy with how it turned out
Thanks for the tips guys, all sounds like good advice, I'm thinking about going with the trough idea especially for the degreasing, how effective is the citric acid for removing the rust, is it basically a case of leaving it soak for a bit and then just giving them a bit of a rub down?
Hi, I am making wrought iron style railings, I have cut all the steel to size but before welding I wanted to remove the surface rust and also the greasy oil that is on the steel which is how it came to me.
There are around 500 pieces to do (infill bars, box sections, flat etc.)
So what would be...
