Think that will make quite a difference that joint was well corroded I would even drill a new hole in the rectifier just to get fresh connection and you will be up to full power....
What are your settings on the welder could be you need to turn the powere up or wire speed down gasless wireally is not great on thin metal so as gaz1 says get some thicker metal and turn up the power a bit play with the wire speed.
OK so you do have a couple of capacitors that's Good cause if one of them has gone and I suspect it's the black one that is the oldest.that would cause you a lack of power like you are experiencing now.one has already been replaced so the other won' be far behind they normally swell and leak if...
Would be interesting to see how well one of these power craft migs actually weld.always liked the fact they have a rotary switch for voltage.as for your first welds we have all been there upload some photos .....
You do seem to be down slightly on power but I don't think this welder has a capacitor bank so that's not failing causing your power to be off check all your connection's after the main transformer could be a high resistance connection
Is this any good 25mm squared 27cm long so bit longer than you need 8mm holes off a fork lift and the longer cables I made up for a better earth on my mig
I can't believe the rod thingy at the front is still straight can't wait to get some thick metal in its jaws and smash it in to submission with my sledge lol (only joking )
I think I may have over done it (won't be the first time)so I wanted a bigger vice you know how it goes an extra inch or two always helps no sniggering.plus I find the quick release would be handy so on the look out for a qr vice bigger than my record no 3 spy a parkinson no 8 qr on spock for 40...
