Quick update. Apologies, but I have been busy, busy, busy !!! Building another car.
I finally rebuilt the engine on this and have it back in the car. Needs some final tuning and a couple of teething issues, I think I am going to get that done by an expert. But, it is back in one piece.
I promised some interior shots, so here are a few. The seats are not a matched pair, one has piping, one has top stitching, as I couldn't decide which one I preferred !. I re trimmed the centre console and made the carpet and headlining. Quite please with it all, for a budget build.
Not updated this thread for a while. So, where were we !!!
ITB's are fitted and the car runs fine. I had a custom intake made, fuel rail and trumpets. I then had to space the throttles to 90mm (originally they are 80mm). This was relatively simple to do, by adding some SS spacers and new...
Well. I decided, I enjoy a challenge and a project. So, I have bought some GSXR ITBs to go on the 02.
I'll get the manifold made up and then it's a steep learning curve from there on.
I haveca very vague idea of what's required and when I say vague, I mean VAGUE .
Anyone fitted bike...
Still working mate. I'm pretty lucky. I get out and about and I am all over the place and I don't get anywhere near Joe Public, so not as affected as some people during this nightmare scenario.
What about you ?
Time for an update I think. I now have this running, but not yet moving, I think the clutch needs bleeding !! I have just finished off the mechanicals, with a shortened prop and a DIY exhaust, sounds a bit too meaty though I think. But, hey, its an exhaust !!
Got some new tyres fitted and it...
Hi Slim_boy. Apologies. I've not disappeared. Still here. Had another issue with the car. I managed to blow a piston !!! I guess it wasn't setup correctly after the HG was done. Bummer. But it's currently back in pieces and having another engine rebuild. I might find time to finally get...
Update on this oil pressure problem. I sorted it in the end. I had to strip down the front engine cover, timing chain, etc, etc. It was a goddam, £1 'O' ring that was missing, where the oil pick up pipe enters the block. Car runs lovely now......almost. I might have to invest in a thicker...
Tried 3 of them, the last one being a brand new OEM one from BMW. New Oil Pump too, I am just starting to strip the timing cover off this week, to check the oil pick up pipe, is connected ok to the block Then I'm out of ideas and it's off to a garage !!!
Bit of an update on this. It WAS the HG and it was fixed. The head needed a skim, but it is back on the road. However, I have a low oil pressure problem, that I am now chasing. I just hope that's nothing too dramatic. The car runs fine, but the oil light keeps coming on at idle, once it...
Thanks for all the replies. I have already tried a grinder with a 115mm slitting disc on another manifold (I have 2) and you just can't get in where you need to, to get nice straight cuts.
I might look into one of those 'Sawsall' things Addjunkie. Cheers.
What would you recommend to cut up an exhaust manifold neatly ? My grinder is not tidy enough. Is there some sort of electric hacksaw or something. NOT an air saw, my comp wont run it, I've tried.
I want to cut the pipes back on one of these, to modify it.
Quick update on this. I have now finished the engine mounts and test fitted - All good.
Made up a set of coilovers from an old pair of VW Golf items, sleeved and welded over the original strut legs. Then added shorter MK1 Scirocco GAS inserts. I have upgraded the brakes to vented discs from...
