I got me a big box of slings that were beeing replaced apart from the odd one beeing dirty there all look ok and im never going to be liffting the loads there rated for im happy useing them.

its all good i drilled it out to 18mm (just under the minor diamietor) then made a chisil out of an odd sized reamer to pic the start of it out then used a pair of long nose plyers and it was just like opening a tin of tuna inside out. Good job it was miled steel and not cast or brass
I have got an old pressure pot and after cleaning it down i have noticed the output at the bottem was blocked. So whilst taking it all apart i snaped the 1/2" bsp nipple in the diaphragm valve.
Im asuming a ball valve isnt going to last long and a new diaphragm valve to the right specs isnt...

i managed to drill some roled convex section for the top of a set of gates i was making by making an angle bracket that attached to the side of the drill press and then drilled of the side of the driil press bed with a mag drill

i was on about the natural sap resin thats already in the wood the plan is to rough out the shape im after then bake it befor it starts cracking then machein it to the finished shape.
i have seen some nice things done with coulerd epoxi resins and the like in cracks of wood though
its all green and im haveing big problems with it cracking hence the g clam on the first pic im looking to build a big oven to set the resin in it.
from what iv read if you get the wood up to 130 -150 c for 24 hours you can set the resin hard instead of kilm drying which takes a year per inch...
