Outrageous suggestion, I'm deeply hurt and offended.
The hobby response was to Chocco by the way, not you.
Our printers are for prototyping so get a lot of use. Pretty much everything is PLA with the occasional ABS or something else.
The guys who have played with the Creality...
Of what?
That's the difference isn't it - it's a hobby for you. There's only so much time a business can put in to tweaking something before it becomes unviable.
For me, the creality is soured because it's had so many people spending so much time on it. I wouldn't mind if it yielded good...
My experience is that Prusa just work. Yes they block nozzles and occasionally material fails to stick to the bed but more often than not they just work.
The Creality on the other hand, whilst bigger, is a pain. 5 people have tried optimising it (and 2 of them were printer nerds) yet it still...
You're probably right @carbon . I run through the bed levelling every print which is lengthy & tedious. Our bed has been abused over the years with all sorts and has area of glue and other muck on it.
I already use retraction but I'll see if I can dial it up a bit.
Good call about the...
Our CR10 max is now running okay... ish.
I found that adding a raft really helps and you've got to watch the first layer go down & adjust the z height on the fly. Also, I've dialled down the extrusion flow (can't think of the correct term at the mo) to 85%. That helped get rid of the whispy...
Thanks guys - interesting stuff.
I've seen a video of a technician programming a modern one and it looks pretty intuitive. This one is from the 90s so a bit more "retro" but I presume the same functionality.
Much as I... enjoy... manual machining, the prospect of tapping in a programme...
I've got the opportunity to scoop one of these up. I don't know the price but I do know the seller and I expect it to be in quite good condition.
The trouble is that I don't know much about them. I know they're CNC and about Bridgeport size but that's about it!
Has anyone got any knowledge or...
I've used Halfords calcium batteries since they came out - probably 20 years ago. 4 or 5 year warranty with a nice trade card price is hard to beat. They used to be Yuasa - don't know about now though.
Another vote for Tayna too. I buy Motobatts for the bikes from there - best price & service...
The Creality CR10 max which gives a passable print but nowhere as good as the Prusa.
The Prusa XL was due the back end of this year but has been pushed back to late next year. *Drumming fingers in anticipation*
I've heard of people buying up old tanks with the idea of giving them 5 - 10 years worth. I can't see the point if I'm honest - they're just postponing the inevitable.
85p/L is a good price at the moment. I've been watching several companies closely the past couple of weeks and snatched 1200 L at 88p/L the other day.
I found it curious how some companies seem to track the price of crude and others... we'll they just seem to make up a figure then add on a bit...
I'm in the same boat - been hanging on for the price to drop a bit further and it shot up again today.
Wish I'd ordered yesterday and saved £400. I've got to take it on the chin as I've only got a dribble left!
Sounds tasty.
I think it would be a hoot in standard tune if it wasn't so flippin' heavy!
I nearly got embarrassed by a tricked up fiat 500 a few months back. The driver didn't lose much ground until around 115mph.
Out of interest - what did the remap do to your fuel economy?
I fancy a bit more poke out of my 535d but as I do a few hundred miles a week I don't want to knack the mpg.
