i stand to be corrected but,
if using stick/mma then set the amps e.g 90A for 2.5mm or 120A for 3.2mm
(Maybe ~4.5 or ~6 on the dial)
if using mig, set amps to 0, then set the volts and wire speed according to application.
.for test runs on lightish plate maybe try 4 `volts' and 4 `speed´

the one in the kitchen drawer is a 'cricket' one, probably bought from asda, and has been working for years. top the gas up very rarely.

Have had a bit of a weekend jaunt Durham way with my partner, she has bought a lovely little investment property in Shotton Colliery.

i think it's as well to stick at the stick for now too, try and build up the confidence with the strike. at times could be a bit frustrating when they would get stuck or not go.

the weather god's were a bit more friendly this week,
i set up a slightly better height work bench with a bit of scrap plate recovered from a lorry park.
used my ac transformer welder with lighter weight cable and stinger. set ~110-120A, on 16A plug. it did trip my cb a few times...
