Hi all,
I need to replace the panels on the side of my old landrover tub. They have a radiused lip in the wheel cutout and I would like to know how to form it. I would also like some advice on what equipment would work well to get accurate folds and cuts in the aluminium.
Also has anyone got...
Hello,
I would like to weld up some shelving to hold my stock and heavier motor parts in the workshop. They would be 2-2.5m high by 3m long and roughly 0.8 m deep. What would you recommend in terms of construction, reinforcement etc? I am going to stick weld them together as I havent done much...
Just as an aside, when teaching standing waves you have to be very careful about the pronunciation of 'kundt's tube' which is a classic experiment. There are several good videos on you tube showing this, some with fire!
Any tips of mig wire for stainless?
I take your point but by the time you have bolted a giant snorkel to the air intake careful engineering must be out the window ? I have not felt any real difference but did spot some weird 'dead ends' in the factory tubing which may well be there to damp any waves.
Hello all,
Having got the hang of my mig welder on a few workshop based projects I have decided that I would like to fabricate a snorkel for my landrover that connects straight up to the airbox. Can I get away with using my standard mig gas on stainless for this kind of job? Are there any...
Hello all.
I am in the process of adding a new pump to my compressor as the old one was seriously noisy and no spares were available for it. When I purchased the compressor it had a new 3hp motor which can be seen in the photos.
I need a bit of guidance on finding out the RPM needed for this...
Thanks guys. I had a good go with it this afternoon and all is good. Slowed down the speed by changing the pulley level and will have a crack with the secondary gearing tomorrow. Plenty of power for the basic drilling I was doing today. Can anyone recommend a good drill vice?
Just set this up as my wife brought it for me for christmas (I love old stuff). Seems very solid and runs true but I have a few questions:
There is two tables, one with a T slot and one with no mounting holes, is there a reason for this?
There is a knob at the top that engages an extra gear...
I am working on this at the moment, have been working through all the videos from welding tips and tricks and this is by far the hardest thing to get right. It all just globs up and produces a drippy horrid looking bead. Half the problem is vision. Will have another go when I finish my welding...
Hi all. Playing with my milwaukee portaband and wanted to make up a simple device to allow perfect 90 and 45 cuts. So far im pretty pleased with it freehand but I think a stand might be the way ahead.
Thanks james
