Regarding names 7018 by Lincoln or eletroarco (blue box) usually have the vandal name in the box (in Portugal) but they also clearly state 7018. And it's also stamped in the rod
They're listed usually as 7018. If you can't find them locally I can mail some rods to you for testing.
BTW I'm near Porto.
But for that kind of work I would use 6013 of a good brand.

The electrode holder is a nail clipper?
It seem so :-0
Regarding 7018, easy to find in Portugal, ESAB, lincoln, HELVI/SCH or electro Portugal are some of the brands that I've used and bought here
Hi
Had pretty good experiences with glasurit shop primer 183-153, zinc free and the colour is almost the of of the good old red oxide primer. I think I wrote about it in other thread with application pictures.
Not on boats but I've had excellent long term results using epoxy in ally structures near the ocean.
Far from cheap but Glasurit 801-72 has been great!
Lately I've been quite happy with the Cofra ones. Made in Italy. For work since nowadays I don't deal with hot metal, I can use something more sneaker styled and more comfortable.
Welcome Charlie.
Besides learning "dry" skills I'm sure that you have a lot of knowledge to share from so many years in the oil rigs and offshore work.
Cheers
On this side of the pond we're lucky that argon, argon co2 mix, pub beer co2 all use the same connection to the regulator.
Regarding the picture. Like everyone else said, forget about using this for welding.
